Start at the road in front of the Old Dungeon Ghyll pub and follow The Band to "Three Tarns" col between Crinkle Crags and Bowfell. Climb Bowfell then follow the BGR route over Esk Pike and then onwards to Esk Hause. Straight up Great End (you may want to touch both summits) and then onwards to Scafell Pike via the Tourist Route. If you're particularly brave, take in Ill Crag and Broad Crag along the way. Drop down to Wasdale, but don't go as far as the NT campsite, cutting the corner over Lingmell Beck and straight up through Wasdale Head and onwards up Styhead Pass, traversing below Great Gable and The Napes. Once at the Mountain Rescue stretcher box (before Styhead Tarn) hang a right and climb back up Esk Hause, passing Sprinkling Tarn on your left and to your right the massive bulk of Great End. From Esk Hause Shelter take the steps down to Angle Tarn then follow Rossett Ghyll and Mickleden all the way back the Old Dungeon Ghyll. Good training for prospective BGR contenders!
