Enigma That was a tough race. Up at 3.30 to catch a cab to the bus pickup point for a 30 mins bouncy bus journey. Then sat huddled in a play park for an hour until we got closer to race time. 7am was race time, and it was light by then with a clear sky and the temperature rising. The course was really undulating and very twisty, there were close to 70 yes seventy corners, mostly right angled ones. As I worked my way around the course, my mile splits were going well until around 8 miles when I started to slow down. The combination of not much training, the early start, the rising temperature and mainly the continuous undulations (mostly up it seemed) started to take their toll. After missing my PB at Moray by 1 sec, I couldn't let it happen again so had to dig deep to shave a few seconds off. A PB is a PB and there are points won for the faithful fetch betters.
Overall it was a great race, with 3589 finishers (I was 233rd) it was certainly the largest race I've taken part in. There were race clocks at every mile marker which was a nice touch. Water and Gatorade was at every 2nd mile marker. Unaffiliated 1:33:06 1:33:06 1:32:00 1:33:38 62.26
