Hi sheri, I had a positive experience on Citralopram but have just switched due to weight gain and night sweats. My brother also takes it and it helps him no end, he has had no side effects. Everyone will react differently, but you do need to give it a few weeks to kick in and for some minor side effect to abate (nausea etc) He must not worry about going back to the doctors and changing his medication if he really is not getting on with it - this happens all the time and docs will be very used to it. |

I've had two spells on Citalopram. In each case, the initial disturbance of my mood prior to it settling down and improving was reasonably small compared to how I'd been before. That is, my mood was more erratic, but it was a bit worse (or better), not a lot worse (or better) to how I'd been. Medium term, it worked for me - of course everyone is different and reacts differently. Hope it goes OK for your OH |

Thanks guys. I know everyone's different but it's encouraging to hear some positive stories. Things so far seem not too bad. But only two days in. |

Hang in there sheri - it will be worth it. I'm feeling worse and worse. Couldn't even get out of bed this morning for Parkrun and OH was really cross. Considering that I was feeling so good at the beginning of week that I was feeling guilty about being off I really don't know why I thought the fluoxetine would have kicked in by now (changed from Citralopram just over 2 weeks ago) and I thought it had. Was hoping to go back to work next week, but now I'm worried about it again and have been in tears just thinking about it especially as I will not be working in my usual environment with my wonderful assistant. Now I'm waffling, sorry, but sometimes it helps to write it down. One last thing (although this is probably a very stupid question) - does 20mg of Citralopram = 20mg or fluoxetine? |

Hi Lili, just to let you know I couldn't get up for Parkrun this morning either. I just felt so tired, so went back to sleep. I think all the driving I'm doing at the moment is taking its toll |

I have no reason to be tired or depressed. Last year I felt like I had a reason and that my depression was justified. Now I just feel pathetic and weak. I've just been for 30 min walk, glad I got some fresh air but don't feel any better |
