Goyt Valley Striders

Goyt Valley Striders is a friendly running club based in Whaley Bridge, in the beautiful Goyt Valley, Derbyshire. As we are on the fringes of the Peak District National Park, we think this area offers some of the finest countryside for running, both on and off-road. So whether you prefer Fell, Trail or Road running there are plenty of lovely routes on offer.

Our members consist of a mixture of runners of both male, female and differing ages as well as ability. You can always be assured of one thing with us and that is a very warm welcome.

We have three groups at our training sessions, Social or beginner, Intermediate and the main or faster group. Our training session is on a Tuesday evening starting from the main car-park on Tom Brad's Croft, Whaley Bridge at 7pm. Other sessions are held at the same place on a Saturday at 8am, Thursday at 7pm and special winter wednesday sessions involving Hill and speed training at other locations as well as Whaley Bridge.

Club Sessions

Tuesday
We hold three midweek training sessions and this is probably the easiest one. Runs usually last for about an hour to an hour and a half and are 5 to 8 miles long depending on group. The faster runners will often run ahead and then jog back to the rest of the pack. During the summer we train off road and in the winter on minor roads and lanes. We meet at 7:00pm at Tom Brad's Croft Car Park, Canal Street, Whaley Bridge (free Car Park near the Medical Centre).

All three goups are usually out at this session
Wednesday
Special Hill and Speed training sessions in the winter months only. Details of where these are held is available on the club message board, or facebook page. (New Mills, Chapel, or Whaley Bridge) usual start time is 7pm.
Thursday
Occasionally we run a training session on a Thursday. These sessions are posted on our members only group page.
Saturday
Once again this group is mainly the Intermediate and social groups meeting at 8am at the car park by Tom Brad's Croft.
