Been running in Nimbus 13s for the last few months and no real problems.
They were well over the 500 mile limit so decided to buy a new pair of Nimbus 14s.

To be honest, they fel a lot harder than previous incarnations and over the last month, I've been repeatedly getting tight calves which have reduced my running to a few miles a week. If I go out, at 2 or 4 miles I start to feel a twinge in my right calf (usually starts around the achilles, then just below the knee at the back before the calf. Stretching makes it 10x worse).
Went out for the first time in 10 days yesterday and at 4 miles, a twinge. Slightly tight when I finished 5 miles and slightly tighter today. Seems for the most part to encompass the whole calf area. If can feel the tightness sometimes just sitting down or if put a little pressure on the calf.

Last time I had a problem with shoes was with Nimbus 9s. Tried stretching, physio etc and nothing. Switched to Nike Vomeros and within 2-3 days, I was running consistently again.

THey just don't feel springy at all - more akin to having run in the for miles so that the cushioning has been flattened down and not sure if they've changed something again that is puttting strain on my muscles.

Go back to the 13's and see if you still get the same problem.
Unless the 13's were worn out or you were experiencing problems you didn't need to change at 500 miles.

They were worn out. Bought them in March and retired them in October. 3 marathons plus a load of training in them :)

Definitely, Scott - I've been wearing Nimbus for years and the 14s are much firmer than any of the previous models. From day one they felt more like shoes that were losing their cushioning rather than brand new out of the box. The marketing blurb says that the 14s are an ounce lighter than previous models but retain the same high level of cushioning, but it doesn't feel like it to me. I've done 500 miles in this pair and want to replace them, but I don't really want to buy another pair of 14s and can't find any 13s in my size so I'm not sure what to do. Quite a few people in my running club have switched from Nimbus to Saucony Triumph on the recommendation of our local running shop but I'm a bit cynical about that - we only have one specialised running store in town so that's where everyone shops and the fact that they're pushing lots of people towards Saucony makes me wonder if they might have a vested interest in doing so.;) Having said that, the consensus seems to be that the Sauconys are very good.

I went from Nimbus 12's to Nimbus 14's and I have been having real problems with pains in my calves and pain in my feet. At first I thought I just needed to break them in but the pain got worse. I have therefore gone back to my old shoes and I am having no problems. My right calf is also the one giving me the most problems. I am planning to get in touch with Asics, but I am not holding out much hope. These trainers have turned out to be a very expensive mistake.

Well that's a disappointment and no mistake.

As it happens I have just bought a new pair of ASICS Nimbus 21.
