If you've got familial hypercholesterolaemia (the genetic condition) the QRISK wouldn't apply to you, kstuart, and if you were started on 80mg atorvastatin without having had a heart attack or stroke it would suggest this.

Been in to the surgery today and said that I have decided to go on the statins. Lesser of two evils is my thinking.

But if it all goes horribly wrong and I grow another head or something like that, I’m going to blame you lot. 😁

Isn’t the saying ‘two heads are better than one’ 😂

Have you seen my existing head?

You wouldn’t say that if you had. 😁

And I nearly put “testicle” but thought that might be a bit too risqué. 😁
And I don’t think there’s a saying about three testicles being better than two.😁

No, but it's quite the juggling act.

Started on the statins yesterday evening. Having read the blurb on the possible side-effects, I very nearly had second thoughts. Some terrible stuff can happen.

Had a bit of a sleepless night, waking up for about three hours from midnight. Can't say whether that was the anxiety of taking them, or the medication itself. Time will tell.

But on the plus side, I can "feel" my cholesterol levels going down already :-)

Dave W, I have had 7 weeks on statins now and no obvious side effects, can’t say I have felt any different at all.

Early days, so might just have been a bit of worry. Hope so. We will see, in the fullness of time.

Glad that your doing okay on them, MrsJ. Long may it remain so.

Got something to say?
