I think I've only ever done that 5.8m version since I've run Borders tipsku. But it is on a bit of the VB course (though in reverse). Mind you, even that VB course has changed a few times over the last few years!

That's a good time larkim. I'll be hoping for similar in a few weeks. Have pretty much got my "long run" legs back but no speedwork yet.

Top work Larkim. Currently also enjoying revisiting past pace numbers from years ago.

I decided to shoot for a sub 35 10k at the weekend and had a classic 10k experience. Went through 5k in 17:15 in 5th place feeling great. Immediately crashed down by 10 seconds a mile for the rest of the race and dropped from 5th to 10th. 35:20 final time - which I’m very pleased with other than the way it went down!

Challenge now is to use the next 5 weeks so I can somehow duck under 35 in my next race..

I really don't like the fact that I am half decent at 10k or thereabouts, as I don't like the distance. Too short to feel justified training for it but long enough to give me about 15-20 minutes of race experience which is distinctly unpleasant.

But my best WAVA results have all come off that distance. I think I should ay attention to this!

Wish I was relatively best at 5 or 10k, would save hours of training for an annual event and I could clean up at parkrun :-)

larkim I just checked the course. 2017 was the last time they ran the short course. Either way, it's a fast course. I enjoyed those races around the Wrexham industrial estate - not very scenic of course but good to run.

I'm also getting the best wava results from 10k events, closely followed by half marathons. I'm too slow in the 5k for a good wava and I find that distance even worse to race, as it's uncomfortable from mile 1. By 2 miles, I usually question why I do this. Marathon is my favourite distance but it takes a long time to train for it. Half marathons are nicer in that aspect and I also enjoy racing them more than a 5k or 10k.
