Foxy I had heard lots of naegative comments about Blackpool, there were reports of water issues in previous races.

I took my kids & had a great weekend, Watched England's first game at the New Wembley, a day at the pleasure beach mainly riding the Avalanche !!!

I was joined on the start line by Gary Wade (as i was the week before in the Scottish capital.

The weather had certainly improved & it was quite warm, Drink stations were adequate.

The course wasn't greatly exciting although it was simple & pretty flat - along the main road along the seafront before running along the sea wall - 2 laps of that for the full marathon.

a Good medal featuring the tower - a rather bright over the top T-shirt with a smiley sunny face in orange & the tower in blue.

my last road marathon of the season. 100 Marathon Club, MK Lakeside Runners, Milton Keynes Lakeside Runners 3:09:27 3:26:47 4:59:59 3:44:28 54.31

Jogging Jon Determined to go under four hours for the first time. I wouldn't bet on me though.
Race Report: Sorry guys I didn't make it :-(
This was the hardest races I have ever run. Maybe trying to run 2 marathons within 7 weeks is not the way to play this game. I started to find it hard going from mile 4 when I started to get stitch which recurred throughout the race. Then at mile 9 had to stop to try and prevent my right foot blistering at mile 15 needed the help of the St John ambulance staff to sort out plasters on my foot and at mile 19 suffered with cramps in my calf. All the way I kept re-evaluating my goals and in the end was happy just to finish. All that said it was still my second best time and despite the pain and not achieving my goal I was happy to finish.

I enjoyed the course and the support. The marshalls were on whole very supportive and encouraging (thanks especially to the lady who brought water down to the lower promenade from a water station on the upper promenade at about mile 10, much appreciated). And thanks also to the spectactor who I am sure must have been buying bottles of water to hand out to the runners. I was a a bit p****d off when I had to stop running on the golden mile to let a 20 or so strong pink cowboy hat wearing hen party cross the the road in front of me, but had a little smile to over hear a couple arguing outside a hotel about why he couldn't reverse his car off the hotel front car park to hear her shout at him 'it the chuufing marathon'.

I will be back for this again one day, I know I can do better. 100 Marathon Club, Wrekin Road Runners 3:44:35 4:21:01 3:59:59 4:31:14 46.95
