blue (pete) Running purely for fun and Charity with a very brave mate - please do not bet but do cheer!
Wife (fat sumo ballerina) and son Tom did a grand job around the run and saw loads of fetchies (miles in front of me and Ian). We had a great time and raised about another £500 in bucket shaking. 8 runners in our team with 3 support bicycles to offload change onto. Fantastic weather and great atmosphere. Our run/walk/toilet break stragey worked a treat and Ian came home safely. Off for a bath and then out for a slap up meal down the Toby Carvery! Unaffiliated 1:49:12 1:49:12 2:30:00 2:33:12 39.65

UPDATE: Revised my predicted time, training hasn't been great so will struggle to go sub 2hrs - must keep A65 in my sights though!!! UPDATE - well i don't know where that came from!! Was hoping to 9 m/m all the way round but set off faster than that and managed to maintain it until the last mile when it really started to hurt! Jock Itch Sorry to those who bet on me ! Calf niggle in days prior to race so I took the first few miles slow to see. Consistent running from halfway onwards. Had loads left at the finish with a sprint finish. I really had a PB in me, small consalation to those who bet on me I know but have to be sensible. Stadium finish was great. John66 Eeeek. I'll do it for charity. Scary!

First half. Not bad - something to improve on. Had dreams of a 2:15 but there we go. Brilliant to do such a fetch intensive race and the meal at the end was excellent.

johnevison First half marathon. The aim is under two hours. I know Ive got the gas but I'm really worried about that last two miles.

Still should be a nice race.

Update: Reading isn't the most scenic of runs, but finishing in the stadium to a big crowd is truly dramatic and hitting my target was a little overwhelming with all those endorphins and adrenalin flowing.

Had a great time, and pretty sure I beat my 10k personal best in the process but unconfirmed.

That big hill at 2 Miles was a bit horrible though wasnt it guys?

Mal Very pleased with my first effort for a half marathon. Started out quite slowly due to the 'human traffic', ran really nicely from 3-8 miles, and quite well from 8-10. It all started to go a bit pear-shaped past the 10 mile mark though, and I was really struggling towards the end. Managed a good sprint in the stadium though, overtook loads of people, and just dipped inside the top 500, finishing 498th. Bargain. Matt the Brum First road half marathon I think I've ever raced properly. Felt OK but wasn't 100% confident after a fairly heavy week of training. Nearly pulled up as hip was hurting on first hill at 2miles. Kept going at what was faster than I thought I could maintain. Pushed on to catch a tall fella up and hid behind him for virtually the whol race. Was hoping for under 75. Misread my watch at 11miles as 1:04 and realised I'd blown it. Was extremely surprised when the clock read 73:42 as I crossed the line. Big PB for me so happy today. Stourbridge RC 1:13:39 1:13:39 1:13:39 78.72

mystique100 Well organised event. Though the baggage area looked a little understaffed as minutes before the race start time there were masses of runners still queing with a 10 minute walk top the race start.

The course was not as flat as I anticipated.

Didn't see the mile markers, this was important to me as I was hoping to use them to help pace myself correctly.

I did this event by myself with my partner cheering me on, though I would do it again with friends next time.

RG Postie (RGP) Ran with and paced Max,nothing special for me and nothing really to write home about, home half marathon and don't really like it,Max ran really well considering that from mile 6 she felt really nauseous, between 6 and 8 miles she struggled but pulled it together and finished the last 5 miles comfortably and strongly, well done that woman ! Great meal with Fetchies afterwards. Reading Roadrunners 1:56:07 2:01:38 2:15:00 2:22:14 41.13

RicC A PB by 21 seconds and so I'm happy with the result but the race was a nightmare. Felt completely energy-less all the way round and each mile really hurt. Too much boozin' while snowboarding I think :( Edinburgh Athletic Club 1:15:24 1:28:41 1:30:00 1:28:41 65.37

*Update* A PB by over 9 mins! Didn't realise I was that close to sub 2 hours, but don't care. Great race, met lovely people, full report in blog, sorry I didn't make lunch. Unaffiliated 1:41:29 2:00:22 2:05:00 2:00:22 53.57

sammyd I was actually up on my time more, on mile 11, but slowed alot toward the end, if I carried on the pace I was doing, and no hill at the end, I would have done a 1hr 24, lost momentum but made up as it is my 1st half Southport Waterloo AC 1:26:56 1:26:56 1:28:00 1:26:56 74.19
SarahBoots (Solitude_Fairy) Garmin time. Oh my..... my first half. Disapointed I did not finish in under 2:30 but thanks to someone called Sue I made it round after starting to really suffer at 10 miles. If you heard people shouting back at the crowd and cheering on the girls it was us! We needed to get through that wall. I now hurt like mad, have blood blisters and a painful knee. But enjoyed my first half marathon. Unaffiliated 2:25:25 2:37:16 2:45:00 2:41:25 40.63

Seagrave Lack of training meant I was not really expecting to do especially well on this. Took the first three miles at about 8:30 to try and avoid shin splints and make sure I was properly warm, then gradually picked up the pace. Started to struggle around mile 11-12 (long run down to Madjeski that seemed to go on for ever). Was very pleased with final time as was PB, but managed to pick up ITBS as the jump from training to race was too high. SteveT As long as I am fully over this cold I should PB as I did a big negative split into a head wind at Fleet 1/2 on the 11/3. Update 23/3 - Cold seems to have pretty much cleared so hopefully I can put the hammer down on Sunday. Going to try going off harder and hanging on, as lately I seem to be getting into the habit of putting in large negative splits which always leaves me feeling I could have done better.

Well I certainly went off hard for a change and was a little scared when I went through half way 40:50, but I managed to just about hang on and finished just over 82 mins a PB by more than 3 minutes, ran with a guy from fetch called Paul through 9, 10 an 11, but my legs went in the 12 mile and a lost sight of him, so I guess he was somewhere around 81:30. I will update with accurate time when I have official result. Hart Road Runners 1:22:10 1:22:10 1:24:00 1:22:10 73.92

surreystriderâ„¢ Aim today was to beat my last HM time which I did by 3 minutes. After a year of poor training, feel I am on the way up again. Thanks to the lady with the jelly babies. TomM ran this in 2h08m last year ( a massive PB). Looking for just a small iprovement this year
Update: Really disappointed with my time. Very slow in the congestion in the first copule of miles then tried to hard to make the time up. By 8 miles, my legs felt they belonged to someone else.
