enjoyed every minute!! atmosphere was great! paced myself well and felt so good even sprinted at the end into stadium
Fuzzy
getting closer to that two hour mark. new PB by four mins.

still need to get more milage in training, but bring on Bracknell...sub two hours will be mine!!
well done to everyone who run.
KinkyS
Hear that this is a fast course, so PB attempt is on the cards. **update** Yes it was, and yes it was :-D A great event, made all the better by a great weekend with great people. Thanks guys, you made this race for me. Although my fastest ever 10K and 10M as well as a 3 minute HM PB helped of course :-) Loved the stadium finish!!! (Watch time for now...)
GAZGIB
Training has been hampered by a chest infection in Feb/Mar so I will just use it as a slow training run. UPDATE - After completing Fleet in 2:10 with 2 weeks to go I will be pretty chuffed if I break 2hrs. RESULT - Prepared badly with 9 pints, 2 currys and 4 hours sleep the night before so was over the moon with my 1:52.

Sorry to those who bet on me ! Calf niggle in days prior to race so I took the first few miles slow to see. Consistent running from halfway onwards. Had loads left at the finish with a sprint finish. I really had a PB in me, small consalation to those who bet on me I know but have to be sensible. Stadium finish was great. Oh yeah and Balham Bouncer beat me with a great PB. Well done chap !.
wizlyn
Another 2 minute PB after taking 2 mins off at Wokingham. Much better race - held back a bit at the beginning and felt pretty strong right to the finish. 10 minutes faster than last year! Very happy :-)
Kew
going go for a pb but its going to hurt UPDATE: was on course for pb at half way but missed it by 2 minutes at the end - didn't feel quite match fit
RicC
A PB by 21 seconds and so I'm happy with the result but the race was a nightmare. Felt completely energy-less all the way round and each mile really hurt. Too much boozin' while snowboarding I think :(
Kimberlina
Woohoo, I got a PB. Excellent race. It was lovely to meet so many fetchies. Meet up with JohnL at about mile 2 and we ran together until about mile 7. My plan was to do each mile in roughly 10 mins, I was quite surprised that I was able to keep it going for the full 13 miles. Will be definitely doing this again next year.
Max71
I'm so looking forward to this again. I love this race. I am planning on a little PB.....only a little one and that would be lucky as I've have a horrid virus and a cold AND I've not trained.

I still love this race, I performed very very badly at it this year though. Sorry for those who bet on me.

Should beat my previous Reading time of 01:59:28. Would be good to get a PB but as I have been doing Marathon training rather than HM not sure I will have the speed. Looking forward to it as it's my local half!

****UPDATE*** Got a PB ...just!! Really pleased tho as I have not been doing speed training recently just endurance. Bit gutted to come in at 2:00:07 on clock. Thank goodness for chip timing :o)
Cavey
Trying to rope a few more mates in this year. No idea about time, but got a good 6 months so i'll be ambitious! UPDATE: Revised my predicted time, training hasn't been great so will struggle to go sub 2hrs - must keep A65 in my sights though!!! UPDATE - well i don't know where that came from!! Was hoping to 9 m/m all the way round but set off faster than that and managed to maintain it until the last mile when it really started to hurt! Thought 1:51 would be enough to beat A65.....how wrong was I, well done mate!!
linsblake
Great race - loved the atmosphere and the crowds and had a fab run until around mile 8 when the dreaded knee started playing up again. This time I didn't stop just limped on and came in with a great new pb! Happy happy!
Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
I went and did it.

I smashed my PB by 10 minutes and finished 8th in my catergory :o)

I also PB'd on 5k, 10k & 10 mile!

A great race, this is my favourite half marathon and my second time of running it.

Great to see so many Fetch Friends, we had a ball!!
Beejay
Fantastic Weekend........met up IanM and Heidi and then met with a load of lovely Fetchies in Reading on Sat night for pizza (thanks Ange for organising it :o) ) Everyone was really great fun especially Plodding Hippo (I didnt feel worthy.......39 marathons.....plus umpteen Ultras) and Kimbelina (plus little Cameron). Didnt get a chance to speak to everyone on the nite, but a greta nite was had.

Sunday morning, started early and got to McDonalds before 8am. Great laff with Ian and Heidi, especially Ian trying to order 2 bottles of water (nearly ended up with two bacon rolls lol) and talking about Ians incident in the Notts Marathon and a portaloo.....pmsl).

Also met up with loads more Fetchies waiting around at the start :o)

The Race.....started nice and gentle with 8.45 & 8.30 miles, I was feeling really comfortable so I stepped up the pace. The rest of the miles were between 7.34 (mile 11) and 7.57 with a cheeky sprint finish to boot. All this together gave me a time of 1:43:57 which I am delighted with :o)

After cheering the rest of the Fetch finishers it was off to TGI's (again organised by Ange......BIG THANKS) for some great food and a couple of Magners on Ice......tasty. Plus more well enjoyed running chat with Puffing Bertie, KinkyS and many others. Sorry, I cant mention everyone.

Overall, a very tiring weekend but more than made up for by meeting so many amazin people, good company (thanks Ian & Heidi) good food :o) and an amazin run.

Well done to everyone else that ran today (wherever) especially those with shiny new PB's to keep them smiling this week :o)
CB.
looking for sub 2:15 in my first HM
Predicted time comes from training run 11/3
time is provisional but delighted nearly veryone has pb'd one by 30 mins
Duncs
Going for a PB for this one.****Update***** discovered I haven't really shaken off chest infection will run but not sure how well ****Another update**** not sure if even running now****Update so I ran and not too bad a time. Worth it to see so many Fetchies and get so much Fetch related support on the run.
blue (pete)
Running purely for fun and Charity with a very brave mate - please do not bet but do cheer!
Wife (fat sumo ballerina) and son Tom did a grand job around the run and saw loads of fetchies (miles in front of me and Ian). We had a great time and raised about another £500 in bucket shaking. 8 runners in our team with 3 support bicycles to offload change onto. Fantastic weather and great atmosphere. Our run/walk/toilet break stragey worked a treat and Ian came home safely. Off for a bath and then out for a slap up meal down the Toby Carvery!

Really hot today, hard work. We were going for 2.20.00, we came in a few seconds over 2hrs 10. Sorry we couldn't stick around for lunch, hope you all had a great time. Nice to catch up with you all...

Char's crashed on the sofa. She worked really hard today and I'm very proud of her for smashing her target in her first half!
Lacal
Had a very good run - quite surprised at my time - but very happy though.
TomM
ran this in 2h08m last year ( a massive PB). Looking for just a small iprovement this year

Update: Really disappointed with my time. Very slow in the congestion in the first copule of miles then tried to hard to make the time up. By 8 miles, my legs felt they belonged to someone else. Grovelling apologies to the brave souls that bet on me.
Puffing Bertie
Brilliant race but found it hard from mile 9....very thankful im not running at that pace for london! I didnt mind the long straight bit to the stadium, but making us run all the way round the outside when we got there was just cruel !!!Lovely to see everyone though and a fab day out:-)
Konaboy
Will be looking to beat Wokingham PB in Feb. Know I can go faster - just need to work on pacing. ***Update**** Back problems - will still run but will take it easy. ***Update*** Took it easy from the off & enjoyed the atmosphere. Felt comfortable throughout (other than the niggly back) & suprised at chip time. Disappointed that I couldn't go for PB as was the plan. Alas these things happen as you get older. Perhaps have a crack at Bracknell next month.
surreystrider™
Aim today was to beat my last HM time which I did by 3 minutes. After a year of poor training, feel I am on the way up again. Thanks to the lady with the jelly babies. They felt like performance enhancing drugs. Tempted to try the beer at about 8 miles but thankfully refrained.
Miss Minx
Bet on me! Bet on me!!
I could not fail to do better than last year, but I'm hoping to absolutely trounce it.... Fingers crossed I will be substantially quicker than my predicted time too.....

*Update* WOOHOO!! very happy - 'ave some points!!
Hills of Death (HOD)
Love it ! Great race - This time I'm serious the PB will go injury permitting etc etc.UPDATE PB reasonably happy could of been sub 1.40 if 1. I hadn't done so much training week before (FLM so had to) 2. Hadn't got a massive blister on my toe that it swelled to twice the size :( 3. Suddenly gained extra quarter of mile on route i did this last year too !!!!!!!4. Had more belief in myself. Met loads more fetchies. Big thanks to Duncs who paced me around mile 3-9 you little kenyan you ! Great after race parties at TGIs. CB did you get hammered after race and did it take away the pain ?
solitude_fairy
Garmin time. Oh my..... my first half. Disapointed I did not finish in under 2:30 but thanks to someone called Sue I made it round after starting to really suffer at 10 miles. If you heard people shouting back at the crowd and cheering on the girls it was us! We needed to get through that wall. I now hurt like mad, have blood blisters and a painful knee. But enjoyed my first half marathon.
Mal
Very pleased with my first effort for a half marathon. Started out quite slowly due to the 'human traffic', ran really nicely from 3-8 miles, and quite well from 8-10. It all started to go a bit pear-shaped past the 10 mile mark though, and I was really struggling towards the end. Managed a good sprint in the stadium though, overtook loads of people, and just dipped inside the top 500, finishing 498th. Bargain.
Jim7
Reading Half: Really pleased with the result, especially considering the hassle I've been having for the last two weeks. Course really nice, and great support. Will beat 1hr20 for my next half!
Jigs
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!!

1.43 is Out of here !!!

Chip time 2 mins quicker than gun time !!! :o)
Highlanderchick
This will be my first time doing the Reading half, looks like a very popular race.

Yip, very busy. An advantage was staying in the Madejski Hotel, smart move. Quite liked the route, just not used to such large numbers.

Gun time 1 hr 49 mins and 31 sec, chip time 1 hr 48 and 36 secs.
JPK
PB!! By miles.
RuthB2
Not sure how this will be as been doing mara not HM training, but this is my current PB course...

*Update* A PB by over 9 mins! Didn't realise I was that close to sub 2 hours, but don't care. Great race, met lovely people, full report in blog, sorry I didn't make lunch.
The AcmeKid
What a great race the reading got to be one one of the best halfs around its almost like a mini london with out the queue's all smoothly run my hats of to the people that make it work and its great for pbs . My first week back at work and a major chest cold in the mid week and still pulls of a 1:28:30 guestermated on my watch....next year 1:25 . Ps thanks for all betting on me : )

" Check out my blog for more detail of the race"
johnevison
First half marathon. The aim is under two hours. I know Ive got the gas but I'm really worried about that last two miles.

Still should be a nice race.

Update: Reading isn't the most scenic of runs, but finishing in the stadium to a big crowd is truly dramatic and hitting my target was a little overwhelming with all those endorphins and adrenalin flowing.

Had a great time, and pretty sure I beat my 10k personal best in the process but unconfirmed.

That big hill at 2 Miles was a bit horrible though wasnt it guys?

John
Toks
Trying to be a bit brave, maybe i can beat my PB, wishful thinking but we will seeeeeeeeeeeee!! *****UPDATE***** Can't wait to see fellow fetchies, great!! Really excited i ran a PB!!! it was soooo hard tough, i had to push myself and it paid off afterall. lovely to meet fetchies and lunch at TGI'S was fab!!!
Lorraine
I really really want to sub 2hrs....fingers crossed I will UPDATE......YES YES YES.There were 3075 points bet on me for this you guys had more faith than me :-) I am sooooo happy but I still really hate halfs particulary miles 7 - 10 give me a marathon anyday...Having said that it was a great race, the crowds and the bands were great.
Jonny
Not a good run. Set off far to fast but I did want to see what kind of speed I had at the mo. Calves tightened early on & felt heavy throughout.
Kieren
Great day with loads of fetchies. My time is over 10 minutes slower than it should be. I don't know what I was expecting though. You have to put the work in to see results & I didn't put the work in so it comes as no surprise.
The Croc
Pb :) Historic day, first and possibly only time I'll go sub 90 mins. Freezing start but conditions turned out perfect. Very well organised race and although large the field spread very quickly. Great to run with people all moving at the same pace and it certainly helped drag me along. Stadium finish was fantastic followed by great lunch - that went on a bit - with numerous friendly Fetchies. Thanks All.
compo
Wey hey!!!! First ever HM! What a corker!! Chip time posted. Knocked 12 mins off last weeks training run!! Am I happy - you decide!!
Waveydavey
Will be long training run. Not even confident of achieving 100 mins. #5352. UPDATE - Was ill, but very pleased. Partly because 102.5 mins isn't bad for someone who probably should be in bed, but I finished injury free.
little brown bag
beat my wokingham time, but slightly over what i'd predicted.. mad busy, nearly knocked over at the water station at 6 ish miles. Nice day for it, great finish into the stadium.
garfieldhouse
Great! Had a good time, better than expected.
Metal Martin
An absolutely great event in which I PB'd by nealry 1/2 an hour. Well done REAding for putting on such a great event.
chocciemonster
Great!! A PB. I really enjoyed this after the confidence knock I hadd in my race last weekend. Lovely stuff!!!
Binks
Didn't really know what to expect on this one after last weeks disaster. However, saw last night that you all decided to bet over 6000 credits on me.
Damn Betting Thingy.
Sid
Watch time! PB. Maybe, I'll come in below 1.50 next year!
Rubber Chicken
Wheels came off (turns out I had stress fracture) painful!
Wilbur
First half so no real idea what to expect - aiming to beat the office record of 1:58 but training hampered by shin splints so no real idea of what I'll be capable of on the day.
DaveH
No watch + 4 hrs sleep + pre-race curry + 3 pre-race pints + no training + tough saturday hockey match + smack on knee + clocks going back = PB by well over 3 mins!!!

Came in pretty much bang on 1:21:30 gun time having started slap bang in the middle of the 1:20-1:30 areas alongside someone with 1:35 and 1:45 pace bands. Hammys cramped up with about a mile to go and just about held on having gone through 5M in 31:05 and 10M in 62 (apparently).

Quote of the day from the missus at 10M: "Come on Dave, keep smiling"
Pov
I'm sure I just scrapped in under the predicted time (wtg official time) Result ! a PB by over 30 secs
bj
Cheers for all the bets guys I did it!

PB easily smashed I love this race and will be back for a 1.35 next year!!
ck
Great run - actually enjoyed it despite no pb. (except on mile 5).
trumpton riots
Woo Hoo.
What a day!
Felt great - PB on chip time (gun time 1.55.01 was still a PB)
No-one overtook me for 5 miles - suspect lots of people in wrong pens (naughty).
Great course/organization/finish.
Well done to all
forbesy
what a week, calf strain on monday, cold came on on weds. Saturday i wasnt doing it. In the end not the best time but the most unpainful 1/2 ive done
Peteb69
1st time at Reading and enjoyed every minute, ran a good PB the course was a fast one makes more presure on the next race.
Was a great day out with very good organisation and great surport fromthe crowds and the bands at the end were great inspiration.
Just viewed the race timings and see my chip time is even quicker than what I first thought.
sister
A superb day... emotional and hard work but I can't wait to do it again! 10 minutes off my PB!!
Heavyweight
Was my first ever half last year and looking for a PB beating my Henley time of 1.58. Well I got a PB although I felt I should have gone a bit better still - found the last couple of miles really tough. Room for improvement still
John66
Eeeek. I'll do it for charity. Scary!

First half. Not bad - something to improve on. Had dreams of a 2:15 but there we go. Brilliant to do such a fetch intensive race and the meal at the end was excellent.

Roll on Richmond!
SteveT
As long as I am fully over this cold I should PB as I did a big negative split into a head wind at Fleet 1/2 on the 11/3. Update 23/3 - Cold seems to have pretty much cleared so hopefully I can put the hammer down on Sunday. Going to try going off harder and hanging on, as lately I seem to be getting into the habit of putting in large negative splits which always leaves me feeling I could have done better.

Well I certainly went off hard for a change and was a little scared when I went through half way 40:50, but I managed to just about hang on and finished just over 82 mins a PB by more than 3 minutes, ran with a guy from fetch called Paul through 9, 10 an 11, but my legs went in the 12 mile and a lost sight of him, so I guess he was somewhere around 81:30. I will update with accurate time when I have official result.
Matt the Brum
First road half marathon I think I've ever raced properly. Felt OK but wasn't 100% confident after a fairly heavy week of training. Nearly pulled up as hip was hurting on first hill at 2miles. Kept going at what was faster than I thought I could maintain. Pushed on to catch a tall fella up and hid behind him for virtually the whol race. Was hoping for under 75. Misread my watch at 11miles as 1:04 and realised I'd blown it. Was extremely surprised when the clock read 73:42 as I crossed the line. Big PB for me so happy today.
MB99
Oh dear! Bad day at the office. Everything felt like hard work, went through the the first half too quickly. Nothing left after 8 miles and even a couple of walk breaks didn't help. Had completely lost interest by 10. Never mind, and on to the next race. Nice to meet some fetchies at the end :-)
Kirsty
Hooray for me, I ran a pb..... Very happy about that but have decided I am so over mass participation events. No criticism of Reading, it's just me..... don't like queueing, don't like running in a crowd, don't like the massive trek back to the car park..... I like my new pb though!
Leg End
As a pre-London Long Run I ran 9+ miles to the start, and then straight into the Reading Half-Marathon. I had planned a slow one at 10+ m/m, but couldn't keep the pace back. Averaged 8:56 m/m, and felt great at the end. Last 4 m @ av. 8:15, and last mile @ 7:50! Brilliant!...
RG Postie (RGP)
Ran with and paced Max,nothing special for me and nothing really to write home about, home half marathon and don't really like it,Max ran really well considering that from mile 6 she felt really nauseous, between 6 and 8 miles she struggled but pulled it together and finished the last 5 miles comfortably and strongly, well done that woman ! Great meal with Fetchies afterwards.
mystique100
Well organised event. Though the baggage area looked a little understaffed as minutes before the race start time there were masses of runners still queing with a 10 minute walk top the race start.

The course was not as flat as I anticipated.

Didn't see the mile markers, this was important to me as I was hoping to use them to help pace myself correctly.

I did this event by myself with my partner cheering me on, though I would do it again with friends next time.
Rocksteady
Had a good race, started off slow but picked it up on the second half and managed a great pb by over 6 mins!!
shaper47
Enjoyable race. Started at steady 6.30 pace, and worked through field in last 4/5 miles.
sammyd
I was actually up on my time more, on mile 11, but slowed alot toward the end, if I carried on the pace I was doing, and no hill at the end, I would have done a 1hr 24, lost momentum but made up as it is my 1st half
stevep1000uk
Chiptime.
dave the flower
My second sub 1hr50 Half. The race was very busy and I struggled for a bit. Not a bad time though considering.
superchip
running with a knee injury
LittleCrack
First ever half, really enjoyed it and will do again. This time I will train upto 15miles, longest trainging run waas 13 miles and the last mile of this was really hard
moorey
put to much pressure on myself.i had a knee operation at end of january and did not have alot of training.
Seagrave
Lack of training meant I was not really expecting to do especially well on this. Took the first three miles at about 8:30 to try and avoid shin splints and make sure I was properly warm, then gradually picked up the pace. Started to struggle around mile 11-12 (long run down to Madjeski that seemed to go on for ever). Was very pleased with final time as was PB, but managed to pick up ITBS as the jump from training to race was too high.
carlotta
after the broken arm & not much training the aim was to get round...
course was flat & fast, much nicer than swindon, more of an atmosphere.
Got to 7 miles with out stopping and that was it.. my legs was dead!
not quite sure how I managed the time to be honest...
jonesj_01
Fantastic run for a first HM. Was well chuffed!
Mr Chops
PB!

My first one!! Got me hooked!!

Training run for FLM
Nice Van Man!
First ever race, great day finish in the Madeski Stadium is great, pleased with time but would like to go quicker next year!
Kingy30
Not so good, walked at the 9, 10, 11 and 12 mile markers. Legs ached, some left knee pain and also right calf hurt at the end.
Too Much Water
PB, although shin trouble meant I slowed drastically between 3 miles and half way. Sped up from there closing the last 10k at 10k PB pace. Hoped for 1:27 so a bit down about the time.
Darrell
A great race with lots of support and excellent pacemakers! Was freezing cold at the start with lots of waiting around.

I guess, with it being my first half, I was pretty nervous and expected it to be painful. I wouldn't say it was easy, but it was easier than I anticipated. Probably means I could and should have run faster!!
LilMinx
Cloudy, sunny in places. Right knee sore again, think need new trainers! (Ran in Saucony). Awesome finish in stadium. Really windy in places, slept on bus back to train station. Last bit of dual carrigeway is a mental killer!
Sportysteph
Ben ran same race in 1 h 32. Was training at Reading Road Runners at the time.

The last mile hurt a lot.
