first half for me, training going well so am hoping for 2 hours or just under
Well really enjoyed my first half but the old toes are really sore (got to remember to cut my toenails next time) 1:51:54
a great race for me and a pb by 8mins... I guess that training does really work!!!
Yay! I did it! Was a bit quicker than I thought too. Great fun... And we outwitted the queues at the Madejski Stadium by limping (I mean walking) to the Pizza Hut for lunch!
Wha-hoo! A new PB (by 14 mins). Delighted to:
a) not be overtaken by the person in the pint of beer costume; and
b) to overtake Batman, the nun, the two 'worlds' and the wolf
c) eat all the different pasta choices at the end
Missed PB due to slowish start & dodgy tummy that nearly stopped me running at all.
1 year of injury]
4 weeks training
7 mins off PB!!
My second half-marathon, aim was to break 90-minute barrier, which I did comfortably on a nice easy course in chilly conditions. Organisation was OK for such a large field; plenty of drinks on the course. Start was a bit of a shambles; 25 minute delay in the cold and a lot of people vastly over-estimating their likely finish times for the starting positions and getting in the way.
Despite the delay in the freezing cold, I managed a PB for this distance. Some parts of the course were very fast and I was doing 7:30 miles in the middle section.
Felt good up to 11-12 mile marker, legs got heavy and plodded the remainer,I'm blaming the start delay for that....(chip: 3405th / 8946)
Cruising (by my own average standard) until 10 miles, then completely blew out. Plodded the final 3 miles...
Having done 1:29 at Wokingham three weeks earlier I pushed slightly harder in the middle and although I did die near the end I did go faster than Wokingham. Job done for now, but hopefully a much better time in 06
Wow, where did I find those two minutes from. Incentives were catch Nell McAndrew and stay ahead of The Cheeky Girls.
I found myself really pegging it over the last 4 miles, not sure where the energy came from. Beat my PB by 11 mins!
First race after coming back from a one year layoff. Had waaaay to much breakfast and felt like barfing all the way round
agony. 1st race back after broken pelvis.
Crap day. Transport rubbish. Had to walk from the station to the start and from the finish back to the station - along with loads of others. Poorly organised
My first and only half (so far!!)
First ever race
Ouch. Big blood blister on right foot. I hit the infamous wall with just a few hundred metres to go - must have been the little slope up to the stadium (that and the 13 miles before it). Was pleased with the result given the lack of training and the new shoes - and my girlfriend and parents were there at mile 10 to cheer me on. Nice medal. I'll be doing this again next year.
what a great race! Apart from the initial organisation which was terrible, huuuuuuuuuuge queues waiting for the busses, arriving after the starting gun, etc etc.
still, arriving in the stadium is great, but the climb up to it was painful.
My first proper race, and i really enjoyed it.
Too Much Water
With Marcus. Went off too fast and died by 5 miles. Had a walk in Green Park. Missed the sub 2 by a long way. Chip time. Disappointed.
