Hollywoof! BEFORE:Last year this was a second place for me and a win for Shiraz... this year the swim is double the length and the weather will hopefully be cooler. Can we make it a double victory this year? Can we get in past security might be our first problem!
AFTER:Back from racing. Enjoyed half my aquathlon... and surprisingly it was the running half!

Run was 6 laps of the lensbury sports fields - just over 800m a lap, just over 5km in total. Grass surface was nice and firm despite the rain. Started off strong, I and one other guy shared second and got left maybe 20m behind by a tri-suited Turbo on the first lap. Second lap I lost the other guy but the Turbo moved another 10m away. Third and fourth laps positions were maintained. Fifth lap I started getting closer to the Turbo and I caught him with one lap to go... Last lap I didn't dare look behind me and just kept running... finished ahead 50m of the second place runner... time around 21 minutes (maybe just under) - really rather pleased :-)

Then swimming... it turned out rather chaotic... the 30 runners were funneled into 3 quite narrow lanes; certain swimmers were overly aggresive in their overtaking (casts look in Shiraz's direction); and the lane counters just plain gave up... result was I had quite a few mid-lane and end-of-lane stops and collisions, had a couple of stops to let some people past (like I had a choice the way they were coming down the wrong side of the lane) and having lost count very early on I just kept swimming and swimming... my swim split turned out around 30 minutes compared to sub-26 in normal training... so I think I might have done 10 extra lengths before I stopped and asked the lap counters - their response was a shrug and a Unaffiliated 51:00 36.58
