Diogenes Very pleased with this time, lovely morning for a run. Started steadily near the back and picked my way through until we reached the hill. Steady up for a couple of miles. Once we reached the top I went pell mell down until we got back on the flat. From thereon I tried to keep the tempo up until the finish which came in 1:08:56. 8.37 per mile. This is probably my Unaffiliated 1:08:56 1:08:56 1:16:00 1:08:56 51.53
Dubois The punchy plan was 7:30 minute miles with a dip at the tape to go under the hour. Preparation far from ideal with a streaming cold, very little training in the last 3 weeks, and an over-large helping of the electric soup on Saturday night. It was mildly disquieting therefore to go past the 2 mile marker in 14 minutes dead, and we hadn't begun the climb yet. Up the Hog's Back wasn't too bad - more of a steady pull for 2 miles than anything crazily precipitous, and I went over the top and past halfway in 29:30. Decided that as I had clearly gone off and up far too fast, I would need some time in reserve when I died on my arse at the end, so descended as fast as I could and ran another solid 2 miles to go through 6 in 43:20 (unofficially faster than my 10k PB!). The hour was in the bag, and I was turning cartwheels at mile 7 in 50:40 only to be confronted with a most unwelcome hill to the finish area. I duly piped down and decellerated over the finish line with 58:52 on the watch, making the PB betting bookie a very poor man tonight. Thanks to all those who bet on me for your support.
