are we there yet? Really pleased with my time as before the race I was thinking I was being a bit optimistic. Really enjoyed the race and it didn't seem that much longer than a 10 miler - I know that sounds a bit odd but at 10 miles I thought - oh well, just a 5k to go - and it made it better Unaffiliated 2:21:20 2:21:20 2:25:00 2:21:20 45.92
blue (pete) Above is garmin time (only measured 12.96 for some reason) and the gun time was around 1:51:08 (official).
Feel absolutely knackered. Very sore shoulders and uper arms so had a swim and stretch on the way home - expected a hot shower but the water was cold (come on Loddon Valley). Met a few fetchies before the start and a couple after - RGP looked injured though.
A pb here and poss. a poss. best for a 10k and 10 mile time too - i'll have to investigate.
All in all I'm very pleased.

Update - very very pleased now as i appear to have improved my 10K pb by around 6 secs and my 10 mile pb by around 3 mins - hip hip hooray! Unaffiliated 1:49:12 1:49:12 1:50:00 1:49:12 55.62

Icky Above is watch time . . .unbelievable good fortune to break 1:40 . . .somehow managed a sprint finish (it felt like it anyway) which made the difference. Oh, that and the pretty ideal weather conditions . . .a good day :-) Unaffiliated 1:36:14 1:39:58 1:45:00 1:39:58 59.81
MadJonny PB by almost 5 mins. Excellent run - pushed as hard as I could in perfect running conditions. Managed the first 2 miles at 7-40 pace, thus avoiding congestion at the start which has slowed me down in the past. Steadied out at 8 min miles until approx mile 11, when I started to slow. Luckily there was enough left to come in sub 1-45. Unaffiliated 1:44:49 1:44:49 1:44:49 56.04
bassy 1 .35 will be a pb, but its essentially a Rome mara training run........

Updated..
Well with zero taper, and it taking FOREVER to get started I still got a PB by a 2 and 3/4 mins.

A lovely run, glorious meeting a few Fetchies, and a big ta to Gobi, who had a qucik chat at 8 miles when I was feeling ropey, and diagnosed it as all in my head, then had a quick chat with me afterwards. Dead chuffed really! Unaffiliated 1:35:32 1:35:32 1:35:00 1:35:32 62.17
Siamese Pete ....it's a PB!
Maybe not quite what I hoped for, but I'm pleased all the same.
Very pleased to see that the predicted dog poo at the start was absent!! Unaffiliated 1:55:28 2:03:17 2:00:00 2:12:12 45.57
Max71 I am pretty happy with an 8 minute PB I have to say. That's despite the fact I walked in every mile from mile 5 onwards....building up to a 3 minute walk in each of the last 3 miles.

I need to find something to take my mind off the running as I found myself walking because I was board.

Still I managed to earn myself a nice amount of points. Roll on Reading. I shall be going for a PB there too. Unaffiliated 2:05:18 2:14:46 2:22:10 45.79

Duncs Quite pleased with that as I didn't feel up to scratch and almost missed the start so spent the first 2 miles waeving through runners.
If I can start in a better place at Reading I think I can can PB there.
Great to see so many Fetchies and the meal after was nice too.
Well done all those who PBd. 100 Marathon Club, Highland Hill Runners 1:31:19 1:36:50 1:40:00 1:38:14 60.10
SparkyMark Training going well on for HUGE pb here. Just run Gloucester 10 in sub-74 so form is good. Knee cleared up. Just smashed 5k PB too. *UPDATE* WoooooHooooooooo :-) Well, I did it, 1:35, which was my REAL target. After the problems with my knee, owing to me being a NUTTER and buying shoes that don't suit. I had a great race, got bogged down at the start, but made up time in the second mile. No sprint finish from me - I gave everything in the last mile. Thanks to all the messages of support from you lovely people - they mean a lot. I hope I have repaid you :-) Great to meet up with loads of fetchies, and a good meal afterwards. Its just sinking in now what I have just done - VERY VERY HAPPY :-) Alchester RC (Bicester) 1:35:01 1:35:01 1:38:00 1:35:01 62.93
Rach E Just going for a PB here. Not pushing too hard as main focus is White Horse on 1 April and I haven't done too many long runs recently. UPDATE: I am very happy :-) Smashed 1:30 completely unexpectedly. My most enjoyable race ever and felt very comfortable. Bloody hell, training properly works. Splits: 6:32, 6:23, 6:30, 6:28, 6:31, 6:31, 6:42, 6:42, 6:56, 6:45, 6:39, 7:42 (this was definitely long), 7:18 (1.1 miles)

KatieB Training going well, there's really no excuse. :-) UPDATE...Mile1(8.33)...congested, had to walk at times due to bottlenecks, Gobi jogged along side for a bit and calmed my lost time panic. Mile 2(7.48)...got into my stride, no probs. Mile 3(7.47)...feeling great and happy to have made up lost time, struggling to keep pace even though. Mile 4(7.04)..hmmmm...took a gel? maybe that's why it's fast? Mile 5-9(7.59, 7.44, 7.54, 7.54, 7.37) just dug in and found a rhythm of sorts. Mile 10(7.58) had realised now, that if I kept to under 8mm I would be sub 1.45 on my garmin. Kind of a pressure and kind of a relief. Miles 11-13...ack...hard work and just hurting, but had a shouty voice in my head telling me not to listen to my body. Mile 13-13.1....I love this bit at wokey, you turn the corner and there's the clock :-))) I'm so happy. Met lots of fetchies, all gawguss, great food and company after. Bedford Harriers AC 1:41:26 1:41:26 1:44:59 1:44:17 62.64
Forest Runner Reasonably happy with the time, considering I hadn't run for 4 weeks before this race because of a hip injury. In fact the time was quicker than recorded because it took quite a time to cross the start line.

I didn't get any niggles from the injury, but I did find the race very hard work. Obviously my fitness levels have dropped quite a bit in 4 weeks. The time I got should really be just a fastish training run for me. Bracknell Forest Runners 1:30:50 1:34:03 1:29:59 1:42:16 63.54

Gobi Pacing run for Draycote next weekend. Pile of arse, pacing was shite, very disappointed in myself. Plus side I run 1.31 for a half and I was basically jogging chunks of it.
Next weekend will be interesting if I pace anything like this.

fetcheveryone I don't think I've ever been so disappointed / cross with an outcome as with this race. I know I am capable of much better, but I: 1) didn't do enough long runs, 2) did no speed training whatsoever, 3) didn't run for 10 days before the race, 4) I had no breakfast, and 5) I stood towards the back of the pack, so my first mile took 9:58. I spent the next 4-5 miles trying to get back on schedule, rather than running smoothly. So by the time I'd got to 8 miles, I was feeling rubbish, facing the knowledge that my longest runs were barely more than 10 miles. Quite a few walk breaks punctuated the last 5 miles, and I crossed the line swearing like a wounded pirate.

But... these aren't excuses, these are just lessons, reinforced, and hammered in to me for next time. Fantastic to meet lots of Fetchies, old and new - and we should have a meal after *every* race! FERC 1:44:49 1:47:20 1:48:01 1:54:38 50.57
little brown bag Well, I'm glad I have actually done my first half marathon, and in my home town too! I was really pleased up to 10 miles, when I was pretty much on track for just under 2 hours.. then did something to my right hip and had to slow down and walk a bit. Still, it was just under my predicted time so good all in all. Hope to get a better time at Reading in a few weeks. Great course, and great support all around which really helped.

RG Postie (RGP) A congested start,I ran a good 11m with Boo,my knee became niggly at 6m,painful at 8m and unbareable at 11m,I wanted to stop but only 2m left was run/walked them,my knee is painful, swollen, bruised and I can't put weight on it,think Reading is definately out of the question.

Konaboy Feeling in good shape for this. Pancake flat course with loads of straights to track others down should make a PB likely. ***Update*** Struggled a bit from 10miles on but put in some solid work up till then. Conditions were near perfect (a little cross wind at the motorway bridges but nothing else). This course has got PB potential written all over it with such good conditions. Also great support from the spectating Fetchies. On the downside, it was very congested at the start/finish area & also the medal shows 2006 not 2007 (sloppy work WHM 07 organisers). johntz First race of the year (have only run the 3 Yateley 10ks before in my short running career). First half marathon...
Preparation all wrong, got pissed Saturday, had no breakfast before the race, set off too fast, and by mile 9 I was wondering why I was going backwards. By mile 10 I remembered I had some jellt babies in my back pocket. Dropped a couple while scrabbling to get them, managed to swallow (choke) 2 of them. I got the energy boost on the way to the pub afer the race. Just aswell....at least I could lift my pint glass!

I will run this distance faster....I will I will I will! Sandhurst Joggers, Southern Navigators 1:29:41 1:54:36 1:54:36 51.82
Um Bongo Thought I had can't the lergy the day before so wasn't sure how things would go. Set Garmin training partner for 1:49 and just kept with that. Kept trying to remind myself that it was just a training run and had to resist temptation to race. Played catch up at start as we all do due to bottlenecks but just caught up gradually. Only increased pace in last two miles with last mile sub 7 mm. Happy with time but know I have a lot more in tank -so good news so far for London. wizlyn PB by nearly 2 mins, have to be pleased with that - esp given no taper, a stinking cold and some kamikaze early pacing... Still, feel that there is more in the tank somehow - so gives me something to focus on at Reading. Serpentine RC 1:22:42 1:23:47 1:25:39 75.28
