Entrants (6) Club PB SB Pred Time WAVA
Agent Orange This was the officila time. Watch time was 35.53. Really nice event and good to see some friendly faces - Gobi and Rach E supporting as well as lots of runners. Hadn't managed great times in my previous two races so wasn't sure what to expect here (didn't even bet on myself, alas). Began in what I thought was a steady pace but got to 1 mile marker in 6.44 (must be a bit short). Didn't want to blow up so eased a little and did second mile in 7.21. A motivational shout from Gobi ensured I didn't settle into a comfort zone but kept pushing on. Did the third mile in 7.14. Felt the wind in my face a bit in mile 4 and ran 7.30 but kept overtaking people. Pushed on in the last mile, feeling strong. Running a U shaped route in the field was a bit cruel but enabled me to get past one more runner as I finished with a 7.04 mile to beat 36 minutes and murder my PB by nearly two minutes. Finished 122 out of 283. Seriously chuffed as it means I've set PBs in 2006 at all distances I've run. Unaffiliated 34:37 35:58 35:58 61.55

MarkC Will have a pop at a PB. Aiming for sub 36 mins. UPDATE: Yay! Went off a little too quick in the 1st mile and was regretting it by Mile 3, but held on over the last 2 miles to get within striking distance of a new PB. Put in a strong final half mile and found myself getting over the line almost a minute quicker than previous PB for this distance. A great morale booster for Abingdon! Great to see so many running chums there, and a terrific event with a lovely (flat!) route. Bacon sandwiches at the end were bliss! Unaffiliated 34:03 35:20 36:00 35:20 60.54
More of a Tortoise Pretty tough off minimal training but I got round so that'll do me. Lots of other buddies got great times so it looks like a fast course although it just felt like forever to me!
Not too impressed with the other competitors trying to run me over as they left the car park :o( Witney Road Runners 54:17 1:08:12 1:08:00 1:08:12 35.02

SparkyMark Not much running of late, and missed intervals, but see if new shoes help me duck under 40. Update - A perfect day for a race. Flat course along the roads of villages close to Hanney. Gobi and RachE turned out for welcome support. Good to see Moat, Agent Orange, NickP and MarkC. A good club turn out too.

Started well and passed 1 mile in 7:07. Heard a clubmate just behind me shout **** at this and expected him to come flying passed - however, no! Managed i keep with some clubmates until 3 miles (22 mins), then started slipping back, but still passing people. Had a battle with a guy in black&white quarters vest - I think we exchanged positions 3 or 4 times. Felt strong still in the latter stages. b&w vest man passed me again on entering the field, I tried to speed up, then saw the clock ticking close to 37, and managed a sprint to get ahead, but not break 37 - grrrrr!! Hope there were no small children close to finish line :0/ sorry

A total shock, first real PB for almost 2 years. Did not realise it was on until last mile. As we always say when we feel good - could have gone faster ... very pleased :o) Alchester RC (Bicester) 34:17 37:01 39:00 37:01 59.34
