bassy Now my 1.38.15 is a bit of a lie cos its my watch time, but motorway mayhem caused me to start the race when the clock showed 18 minutes. But Im claiming my 1.38.15pb and am willing to fight over it, unless of course anyone really does want to fight, in which case I will wimp out.

A great race, great marshalls, a cool momento which I gave to the kids when I got home, and a challenging but interesting course. I loved it. Please clear the roads for me next year! Unaffiliated 1:35:32 1:38:15 1:40:00 1:38:15 60.45

dustboy Ouch. Time was under 2.15 gun to chip including 20 secs to start line but official time is above.

Greenman Got up at an incredibly early (for me) time of 7.20 and despite feeling fine at the start I felt uncomfortable and sluggish for most of the race and didn't really enjoy it (I'm blaming the early start for this). Shame because it's a nice course, well marshalled and with a Grantham Running club 1:20:38 1:22:31 1:24:44 70.57

Jimbo I went out with a plan, stuck to it and I am very pleased with the result. I never wanted to really race this one or set any PB's. This race was going to be a bit of a training run and I felt I really benefited from treating it like that.

I was well aware of the course profile being virtually up hill to 9 miles and down hill for the last 4, so the plan was to stick to marathon pace for 9 miles and go for it for those final 4.

My marathon pace is 8mm, so I was pleased to get to mile 9 at 7:30 pace. Mile 9-10 was a swift 6:59, followed by a 7:14 and a 7:13, but the final 1.1 saw me lose about 20 seconds as I struggled to hang on.

My aim was to just stay under 100 mins, so I was pleased to cross the line in 97. It may have been 3 minutes away from my PB but I never planned to run this one that hard.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course and the organisation was fantastic. The race momento was great too.

I will be back next year and I might just have to race it. Unaffiliated 1:34:34 1:37:31 1:35:00 1:37:31 59.45
Lieutenant Lucerne Last year I found this hard going (1hr 43m) - as I started a bit too fast. So a change of tactics this year. Plan was to reach 8 miles in 60mins (4 secs late) then pick up the pace on the last 5.1 miles. Surprisingly it all went to plan.

MrMo Ran quicker than this when I was younger, but I can't remember what times I did. This is my PB over the last 10 years. I also ran the Great Eastern Run a few weeks before this in 1-43-20. Unaffiliated 1:43:08 1:43:08 1:43:08 56.22
Nightjar Had a great run this morning. Set off quite quick to get some time in the bank for the inclines between about 4 and 9 miles. Managed to keep the pace up pretty well throughout despite the inclines into a 15-20mph wind.

*** PB ALERT *** PB ALERT *** PB ALERT ***

Finished in 1:42:51 taking about 5 minutes off the PB. Fastest mile; 10@7.20 downhill. Slowest mile; 8@8.11 uphill. 40s negative split on the last 6 miles compared to the first 6. Thanks for your support peeps. Certainly helped. Bedford Harriers AC, LDWA 1:37:01 1:42:51 1:40:00 1:42:51 59.54
No.8 â„¢ Training run, asked to pace a 7 m/m race for someone and did exactly that, to the second. Great event, good organisation, cheery marshalls and a nice course, although undualting and a bit chilly. A great way to do a training run. Unaffiliated 1:15:00 1:22:28 1:32:42 62.89

Puffing Bertie Wow i am very pleased with that......specially after the week from hell !!!
Bit windy up the top but boy i LOVED that downhill at 9 miles.....weeeeeeee!
My plan was to get to 8 miles by 1.23 and so was very happy to find it was 1.14, i also beat my 10mile PB set at the GSR a few weeks ago by 3mins!

Great to see RR, 2FF and SG and Kaite B :-)......sorry i missed No8 :-( Unaffiliated 1:58:06 2:05:27 2:05:27 53.81
Ricardo Hadn't been feeling great the previous 2 days, so took it easy. Ended up pacing the wife who had missed out on a lot of training recently. I brought her in with a new PB so good for her! As fot the course, not too bad, the hills weren't as bad as I expected, glad the rain held off, but certainly could've done without that wind! Unaffiliated 1:29:03 1:41:10 1:45:00 1:46:52 54.74
Runner Martin After a party the night before - not to sure I would even make the race - but kept drinking under control with just 5 cans!! Did not feel impact the next day and hapy with a 1:46:51 on watch - this is the 5th time at this event and always organised well - the only place with the chip taped to the number Redway Runners 1:38:46 1:44:43 1:46:51 59.77
RunningRev ANOTHER PERSONAL BEST! To be honest I didnt start out to get a PB, I was considering just doing a 1:45, but of course within yards of starting I was already hankering to run faster and in the end I did! I feel so great! It was a tough course with tough hills and quite strong winds blowing against you at the most inconvenient times! I am REALLY impressed with the momento however! A running bumbag/bottle holder belt! Although I like medals, this has got to be the most usefull momento :) UKnetrunner 1:38:01 1:38:01 1:40:00 1:38:01 59.15
Slow Going Just a great run... Took it easy over the first 10 miles, then gave it a sizeable dose of what-for over the last 3 miles or so. Was floating on air at the finish. Great to see team UKnetrunner + MRF, RichK, Trin and PB UKnetrunner 1:31:13 1:39:56 1:40:59 57.73

Tim of Fife Still nursing my head cold, but decided to give it a go as a very relaxed 'training run'. Never attempted to 'race'. Just tabbed around with some fellow Shenley Striders. Paid the price the following day. I won't run whilst 'under the weather' again! Unaffiliated 1:39:33 1:43:50 1:59:44 52.00
tramps Tried very hard to maintain 1:45 pace. Went over the halfway point @ 53:30. Simon then wanted to slow (probably bored of me taling to him.) I ended up with a 7 min negative split. Overtaking Howard at the 400M to go sign was very satisfying. It was a well organised race despite the congestion at the start but maybe just a bit too boring for me to consider next year.
