Dochart Race HQ is in the grounds of the arboretum, north of Chippenham. £1 to park, no changing or baggage facilities. Although there is a charge to park, this potentially is pretty good value, since admission to the park is usually a whopping £6.50 for an adult. The route winds through the park on completely traffic free trails. There are two uphill sections, one 2k after the start, which is long and gentle and another at around 6k which is very short but a bit steeper. It is well marshalled, passes the start area a few times so is good for spectators, and there is one water station at around 5k. It rained the whole day but stopped shortly before the race and conditions were excellent. I started off well, running 4:30s for the first 5k, but struggled in the second half due lack of training. However, no reaction at all from the ankle and a better time than I expected, so pretty pleased. The 'medal' was a slice of tree on a ribbon and every finisher also received, appropriately, a tree (well a sappling)! Stopwatch time 46:33. 84/421 Stragglers 39:50 43:16 50:00 46:38 60.64
