I know I can do this, but after disappointing time at VLM 2012 will need to rethink training!
was on track for first 5 to 6 miles, then just lost focus and interest, overall did not enjoy the experience,do not like that course, does not inspire or motivateme
Started with a tweaked hammy - finished with pain in my right foot!
PB.........12th place, 11th male as was beaten by first female.
First Vet and Scottish Masters Half marathon champion for the 3rd year in a row!!
I love this race. A new half mara PB for me and knocked 12mins off last years time. Yay.
A bit better than I thought it might be. Ran/ walked it pretty rigidly as I knew I hadn't trained enough. Surprisingly warm. Dragged it up to fourth slowest ever half. And all body parts appear to remain functional afterwards.
After three miles I realised my pace was below 8mins/mile and I just thought, "Fuck it, I'm gonna go for the sub 1.45" and I just hung on in there and pushed myself. It was tough going, but I feel so pleased with myself that I did it!
Had to dig in deep for the last 4 miles. Not my best time but certainly not my worst Didn't walk so at least I achieved Plan B...
no idea what happened!!
A very slow first mile and the 2nd wasn't much quicker. The 1:35 pace maker passed me and I stayed with him for just over a mile and then I picked the pace up. Felt tired going through the Pollock Park but managed to pick things back up at 10 miles and even managed a sprint finish to get by a friend you tried to overtake me from the last corner
My slowest half but my most enjoyable as the pacing needed to be spot on due to the lack of miles in my legs & the weather conditions were great for me. Very nice run through the Glasgow parks but some of the other bits were a bit 'so-so'.
Managed a 5 minute negative split & finished feeling good but the 80% WHR probably shows I couldn't have done better on the the day.
With some many fetchies running I only managed to see the cheery Jacs en-route.
ran this race with absolutely no training whatsoever. Regretting it now. even if I had trained for 1 week the results would have been very different.
Seemed to sleep through this one, for some reason had no target pace in mind, mentally tired and had loads of niggles from 6 weeks of 5 hard PB attempt road races. After a few shockers in this race it looks I subconsciously played it safe. Pos 30th & 4th MV40.
Loved this. Loved the wee kiddies doing high fives. Loved the pipers playing the hokey kokey. Loved the plentiful water stations.
Wasn't so keen on the last mile that went on like..forever! Slowly getting my running shit back together after a long break and want to keep at it.
lets try this!
Was dreading this race, not confident of fitness and just wanted it to be over. BUT….ended up really, REALLY enjoying the run!
Great day and great atmosphere. Started quite slow but felt stronger as race went on…..until last few miles, which obviously hurt like hell
On start line I did say ‘do not let me enter this next year’ but crossed the finish line looking forward to doing it again next year-haha!
Just hoping to survive and not embarass myself after the year from hell health wise.
A bit nervous - feel that I haven't really trained enough for it. We'll know tomorrow
Just made my target!
Ran better than expected after a rubbish 2 weeks, got the head down and was in the zone. Best time since 2008.
Good run today in perfect conditions:-)
Not too bad, didn't think I'd run as I had a cold all week but gave it a go with a less ambitious target time than I'd hoped for a few weeks ago. Aimed for the 80 minute mark, but 6 minute miled all the way so pleased with that. Finished 47th.
