Hollywoof! There aren't many days that start off where I genuinely don't know if I'm going to race 5km, 13 miles or 26... After some faffing... didn't do the 5km... opted for the Orpington marafun instead with options of ending early at 6, 13 and 19... headed out cautiously at LSR pace cos I've not been near a marathon training programme for 6 weeks (dropped off of Shiraz's after Cranleigh - not been over 13 miles since), cos I've not tapered or carbo-loaded, cos I've still got a couple of injury niggles, cos I'm looking to race Richmond Half properly next weekend, cos, cos, cos...

Survived it well despite the heat (I was praying for the rain to arrive but at least it stayed cloudy) and the loneliness - just 17 marathon runners in total and I started 20 minutes late - so I only saw 7 other runners during the entire race - in fact for miles 1 to 11, 14 to 22, and 23 to the end I saw no-one else at all!

Stayed around 8:30ish pace the whole way - 30 seconds off the Cranleigh 21 pace... Shiraz's Garmin helped a lot with pacing... but finishing stretch was up a long incline and I had a few altercations with some traffic that didn't seem to understand that I just couldn't stop running... so slipped just off the pace in the last 3 miles. 3:46 - 2 and a bit minutes off a PB time - but I wasn't really racing and it was hot and the course was Unaffiliated 3:21:40 3:31:42 3:46:50 53.65
