Bit crazy on the roads but managed a PB for this race
Rubbish run for me. Was very disappointed with the route, and it certainly wasn't flat although wouldnt say it was a hilly race either. Too crowded and narrow to run in for me - some places you just couldn't overtake easily so were restricted to running at a pace you didn't necessarily want to. i felt slow at times because of this. By mile 12 though my legs were done in, didnt think I'd make it to the end and nearly stopped and walked but determination got me to the finish without stopping.
We shared the pushing, I pused for 6.6 miles (1hr 21 min) and then we swapped. I ran the next 6.5 miles in 1hr5min with a finish time of 2h26. Don't have the actual chip time as went over finish line again with partner and son!! Didn't think to remove the chip after I finished for first time. Overall, enjoyable race but very difficult near the end as quite a bit was uphill.... Would I do it again? Probably not
1hr39 at mile 11 so well on course for the sub 2 hour, legs then stopped working around 11.5, walked for ~2mins then ran a bit more & walked again then ran to finish..Last 2 miles = 25mins!! blame groin injury from footy meaning I stopped training 3 weeks earlier than planned, so essentially missing 3x4 training runs. Maybe do another half in November (conwy) but is much hillier so won't be looking for a sub 2 hour.
post injury.. and not enough training... stagger around
I am please with time.. may have been slowest race but no major pulls or tweaks.. now to look and train for next one... come on sub 1h 30... I will do it one day
Well due to problems with parking- (3/4 hour to cover the last 2.5 miles), the race start was delayed by 15 mins. This didn't stop people starting long after the official start. I took 30 secs to get to the Start, which meant my time (Garmin 1.50.32) was actually just sub 1.50 my target time. Not a bad course if you like underpasses, and crowded city streets.
Windy but fairly flat although there are some long drags.
Quite twisty in places and narrow which for the runners towards the middle could be a issue, something for the organisers to address.
Felt quite good throughout and another decent prep race for Abingdon.
