Started too cautiously in anticipation of a lot of hills and left it too late to make up time.
Damn, that's a hilly one, but all on roads. Had a great outing, pushed hard on the uphills and harder on the downhills. First four miles in 26:20, and next four in 23:56, but that's really the effect of the hills. Took about four or five places with the downhills, including a good push on the penultimate corner (nice split for that last mile, albeit downhill). Felt great, pleased with the time, five minutes off the PB (from four years ago!)
Very pleased with tonights run. Placed around 14th. No real speed in my legs but felt strong. Good hard effort in preparation for Ironman Wales which is now less than four weeks away! 12th time I've ran the Ceres 8 and hard to believe that I ran three sub 44 minute races on this course in the mid 90's with a best of 43.04 in 1996. Those were the days....
Placed 7th/2nd vet.
Great run, good conditions, 3rd vet!
