YES!!!! Sub-4 at last, and should have won quite a few points for anyone who bet on me, as that was a 21 min PB
Went much better than expected and even with a run 9 mons/walk a minute from mile 20 still came under the 4 hours and felt great all the way - last 0.5 miles were very heavy legged but other than that very happy given injuries and lack of training!
he who dares
Took a gamble and set off at 2:52 pace or there abouts, didn't quite pay off as suffered in the last 4 miles, but I still got what I really wanted which was a Sub 3! and a PB of 7 minutes 14 seconds. Oh and finished 52nd.
Finally I will go under 3.15. EDIT Thank you fetchpoint, thank you Abingdon Amblers for helping finally get my sub 3:15.
Garmin time: 4:15:58

Happy with this after doing 3 in a row prior in as many weeks, so great to get a SB out of it
Was on target for sub 4 but got cramp at 13 miles, so had to ease off, managed to run the cramp off (for the first time ever) but had to stay at a slower pace. Still got a pb.
Haven't made it to this race since 2006, when it was my first sub-4hr marathon. It's about time I went back! No predictions until I know what sort of Autumn season I'm having :o)
Another sub-3 attempt failed. A carbon copy of London, fine until 20 miles in 2:16, then bang the legs won't turn over, reduced to a shuffle at the end. Will have to work on my speed and get my half marathon time down to sub-1:22 and give it another try in London.
well marshalled. plenty of drink staions. friendly atmosphere. poor goody bag considering price entry.
Knackered my calf in the first few miles
Not too bad. Went out sub-8s, on an all or nothing, held sub-8 average til 22 but then faded badly. Once it was gone took a few walk stops. Still an 8 minute course PB
R foot prob from 16M and cramp R leg 23M.Danny KAy went by 25M and Anna 1/2M later. Ran with Andy most of way (PB by 34 mins).
My first marathon and I have to say total respect to people who have done more than one. Was aiming for 4 hours but around mile 18 all my energy left me. Had to walk two or three miles; but meant it gave time for my body to get all that gel slushing around in my stomach converted into useful glycogen; which meant the last mile was the fastest of all! Great atmosphere, well organised and friendly marshals. Apart from the one incident of a car trying to run me over at one junction, all good.
Not yet sure I have another PB in me - but let's see how training goes this year.
Buzzing today after going sub 3 for the first time!. Came 7th in category, 60th overall and finished in 2:58:20
On track for 23 miles.
Last three miles were hard and slowing by 10s per mile, until severe right hamstring cramp hit within 1 mile of home.
Great run apart from that an new shiny PB
Good consistent pacing (kept below 8m/m). Last 6 miles felt like a struggle due to lack of recent long runs but knocked 13 mins of my PB. I guess my base fitness is pretty good. Great support and marshalling, Fetch point was awesome.
Blackbird Leys (boy)
Marathon number . Can i do a personal best? I'm certainly going to try.
My 40th marathon as good as can be expected as I haven't done the distance training this year due to a busy track and field season over the summer. Great support and marshalls, and love it because it's 20 minutes from home
Felt in total control with perfect splits!
