muimhneach Good flat course for a PB. Only 1 hill of a kind which is the bridge over the railway at about 3.5 miles. Unfortunately as its an out and back course you have to do it twice! second time at approx 11 miles. Apart from the start and finish which is on the coast the rest of the route is rather boring as it involves running up and down a duel carriageway in between a steel works and a chemical works. PCleasby Very well organised race. A credit to the town. Good mix of club runners and non-club runners. Plenty of water stations which were very much needed today. Good t-shirt and medal at the end. From a personal point of view I felt as if I had a shocker today. Started out far too fast and felt terrible from mile 2. Wanted to walk from then and have never felt so bad during a race before. I feel i did not give the distance the respect is deserved and ran the whole race in a cloud of negativity which refused to shift. Walked for 20 seconds or so at mile 11. Should have taken an energy gel with me today which may have helped. Rest now required. I'll be back next year to nail an improved performance in this race. Rigel Warm for the first 7 miles, strong head wind for the last 6... felt a bit leaden legged and dehydrated so very thankful for the numerous water stations. Think I went off a bit too fast considering how hot it was which may have been why I missed out on a PB (tho the headwind all the way up the trunk road and sea-front may have been a contributory factor).
