7th race this month and 4th marathon/ultra in 5 weeks and it really showed - very tired legs! Loved it though, amazing course and perfect weather to show off the scenery
Well I predicted 5 hours and at one point thought that would be a very tall order so I am not at all disappointed with this. It's a Course Worst for me, but I loved it and I'll definitely be back. Lots a fun. Will blog shortly. CORRECTION it wasn't a course worst! Yay!!!!!!!!!1
Who's idea was this then?
Beautiful day and a beautiful course. Might be my last BH though....
Reached mile 16ish in under 2 hours. Left knee had been giving gip from about 9 miles. Walked last 10 miles in a lot of pain. Could not bend leg or load the joint. Particularly painful downhill. Once it had gone completely numb I tried to run again several times. Couldn't even start though. Disappointing end. Likely to have finished in 3:30ish and top 20 place.
Beachy Head marathon - 69th overall & 3rd lady!! My quickest time on this course by over an hour. Loved it!
fantastic day out. Husband walkd and told me to run if I felt like it!
293 of 1300 recorded finishers
Tough run. Twisted my ankle at about 8 miles and struggled from there - esp the downhills.
Goodness - how did that happen. Was expecting a 5.40 to be honest so that is a nice surprise!
Fantastic race, very hard, but scenic and a real sense of achievement afterwards. Must do more hill work and leg-strengthening exercises before the next one.
Aa fantastic race and lovely weather - definitely one to do again
If i ever think of entering this again...somone please shoot me.
That was a brutal race and found it harder than the picnic. If I was to put in a school report for todays performance it would read "tried hard but could do better."
There is always next year and more training
what a load of big woofly pants. never in the history of athletic endeavour has such a massive positive split been recorded. i knew we'd all set off too quick, partly due to the tailwind, and also down to race ignorance, but i just couldnt pull myself out of it. was going fine up to about 18 miles, but finished the last 6 being overtaken by asthmatic pensioners out walking their dogs.
credit to the organsiers and marshalls for a great race, (with the possible exception of the seperate number and chip collection arrangement), and will hopefully be back to recover some credability next year.
Three quarters of this race is fine. The last quarter, over the seven sisters is hell. Ran a good pace but nearly cramped up on the hills.
