Lyds Really disappointed in myself. Went through the first km in 6:15, second in 6:30; felt good and was well on track for a pb. Then it all went wrong! My left ankle started hurting at about 2k and to add insult to injury (quite literally) I went over on the same ankle whilst going over some uneven patches of grass. After that it was a case of combining running and hobbling to try to ease the pain. It was so frustrating to see that pb gradually slipping away and by 4k I knew it was impossible. Did manage to run the last 500m to come as close as I could to 36mins. Crossed the line and burst into tears cos I was so angry with myself.
As far as the race goes, Race for Life always seems to well organised although the course itself wasn't great cos it was narrow so difficult to get past slower runners/walkers. But RFl isn't about getting pB's its about raising money for a fantastic cause and it's an emotional experience seeing so many women come together, many with very personal experiences of cancer.
Sorry to anyone who bet on me! Unaffiliated 27:09 36:30 30:00 36:30 40.37
