This event is listed on these dates:
9th at Surrey Spitfire 20. Running as progressive training run.
Felt so sick for second 10 miles. Using the gels being given away at race. Cyclist who coches tri accompanied me through most of last lap.
Enjoyed race,10m very easy,knee held up then 10m@MP or quicker,last 10 in about 1hr 5-6mins..
A good and enjoyable race, weather ideal for running, well organised and a PB.
Went off to quick but settled into my usual pace in the second lap. Enjoyed this race & quicker than last October as well!
Not a good day! The last 5 miles were very tough and I slowed right down for the last two miles, possible reasons:
- Very active biking and walking the day before
- Cycled to Rich's first thing quickly as I was late
- Had the two weeks beforehand off completely with a sore foot
- The first 13 miles were much quicker than I planned for
TR - Aiming for 10.00`s, maybe 10.30`s. I want for 10:00`s in the end (saves on brain power)
Splits - 9:58, 9:55, 9:44, 10:12, 10:20, 10:12, 9:51, 9:46, 9:41, 10:06, 9:59, 9:35, 10:18, 10:37, 10:23, 10:19, 10:35, 10:35, 9:41, 8:25 (0.88m @ 9:35/m) (10M race clock split - 1:40:05)
Another new race for me to use as marathon training
My plan was to run the second half faster than the first half. I aimed to run the first five miles at 9:30s, the next five at 9:20s, the next five at 9:10s, the next three at 9:00s and just opened up for the last two. It was a good confidence booster ahead of London.
Very pleased with time. Not sure what went on, but started too quickly and was in the strange situation where i had to slow my pace. One strange race.
