Kingston Running Festival Marathon

Sun October 13 2002
2 Entrants Club PB SB Pred Time WAVA
paskha 9th Marathon / 1st Kingston M. My sister lives 2.5 miles from Kingston and I knew I could do a better time - if only I didn't cramp up or need the loo! This was the day Paula broke the world record in Chicago - and just to make it really memorable, I'd come up from Cornwall with Ronnie James, local running legend, who has won half of the 28 odd marathons he has run. Annie & Steve made us very welcome, loads of lovely food & wine (not too much the night before ...) and dropped us off in a chilly Kingston at 7am - marathon start time 8am. Perfect weather - wet, but not windy! Ronnie WON (2:29) - and broke the course record! (which was held by another Cornishman)

I did need the loo and I did have to stretch - but this was still a PB by 17 mins!!! Mounts Bay Harriers 4:28:24 4:33:14 4:30:00 4:39:18 56.53
RFJ PB Swindon Striders 3:12:55 3:41:48 3:41:48 55.58
