Blackbird Leys (boy) first time sportive. Well, what a delight this turned out to be. I hired a bike the day before, a Dawes touring model. Sit up handle bars, rack on the back. :) I had a picture in my head of The Oxford -Cambridge bike ride with all manner of bikes being ridden in a leisurely fashion. Ha ha.. so you can imagine my surprise when I arrived at the Cherwell school to see a field of lycra covered athletes all with top of the range racing bikes. Unfazed I took up position with a group at the start gate. we were let off in groups of 10-15. After a quick lap of Oxford we headed north to the hills around the Cotswolds. Gosh it was tough. I'd love to tell you all about it , each twist and turn, every word spoken to me, every wonderful sight seen. Alas I have no spare time for chatter as tis a busy day for me this morn. What I will say is this. I loved it all. :) It was well organised, friendly, welcoming and quite tough in places. I'd do it again next year on a proper bike then golly you watch me go. 100 Marathon Club, Woodstock Harriers AC 0 0 6:15:00
