gonna go For it & hope the wheels don't fall off - might be optimistic ? was optimistic wheels fell off at 19 miles
Hoping to better my debut here last year of 3:09:18. I'd love to go sub 3 but that's a dream at this stage. *Update - realised my plan A of sub 3:05, coming home in 3:04:57 and 4th Male V50. Sub 3 will have to wait as I expected, but I'll do it!:-)
The bag lady
Best marathon so far - no significant pain - last three miles the hardest but kept good pace. Took 1 gel before starting and 4 during the race. Pre race meal = soup, pasta and apple pie !
7th in my age category
Have entered now so no going back !!! Only one goal....sub 4 hours !!

Hoping to use this to renew my GFA qualifying time for VLM ...
First marathon. Scary.
Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
I wondered if there was any room for a PB after VLM, training went well and I had thoughts of aiming for 3:23, a little closer to race day I had a rethink, decided I felt trained well enough to go for 3:21 @ 7:40 m/m which if achieved would give me a higher ranking on Power of 10, tried to set off cautiously but first few miles were a bit faster than planned, settled in nicely to my pace and managed to keep well on track, approaching mile 10 I started to get very excited at the thought of Fetchpoint coming soon, and as suspected it was Awesome! second half continued well and approaching 20 miles I was again getting very excited, when I turned the corner towards Fetchpoint I was drowned with the sounds of everyone calling me, you guys were FANTASTIC!! mile 23 and I was passed by a lady in my age category, I thought I couldn't fight back, my legs were tiring, however I gave myself a stern talking too, upped my pace and went past her, I was not going to give in that easily! Finally getting onto the path leading to the track, which seemed to go on FOREVER! I hit the track and ran as hard as I could, the clock came into view 3:20:xx I raced to the line but didn't quite manage to get there before it clicked over, finish time of 3:21:03 is pretty bang on my target and pushed me up to 3rd on the ranking, I do believe I am really 4th though as the first V55 does not appear on it for some reason. Fab day out, fab conditions, fab PBs for loads of Fetchies and FANDABULOUSO Fetchpoint for which I cannot thank you all enough!
My second marathon nearly 20 years after my first one and I finally achieved my original sub 4 hour target.
good course well organised will train next year
Steady effort - a brisk long run rather than racing today.
Hills of Death (HOD)
Fitness so so so just gonna give it a go but not likely to be PB
fuck-awful. walking after 10M
Perfect day with perfect conditions.
This is a PB attempt .... Chip time. Opps I think I went tooo fast.
A PB on a cold cold day. Pleased big time.
Get. In. There. You. Beauty.
very cold start 2 degrees a some point, frost on the track. First race in compression socks. Went out fast for a 3:03 and backed off to guarantee GFA sub 3:15. Nutrition and hydration was awesome. Quad strength desserted me. Minor Back twinge, forced to take painkillers / anti inflamitary at 21 miles.
Good... but not good enough.
massive thank you to Paul for keeping me going today!! x x
First time Marathon last year and was going well up to 18 miles. then I started slowing and 'hit the wall' the last three miles. Plan this year is to get in more long runs and last the distance to get under 3.5 hours. (last year 3 hours 38 mins)
Hope all who placed bets are happy! Was pleased to hit my predicted time.
Thanks to everyone at the FETCH POINT
Will have to go back next year to get a proper time
Good race, with excellent marshaling and the fetch point was the dogs danglies Kept pace to 23 miles, then tied up a bit. Well happy to have got round and to have completed my first (of many I hope) marathon in a reasonable time.
Finally, (although she will never see this message) to the random woman that was walking through the underpass and decided to jog with me along the up ramp to help me along, *thank you*.
brilliantly organised race - wuld do it again tomorrow if I wasn't so knackered. Got a PB though
can't quite believe this yet, a pretty much perfect race.
Great race. Fetch stations brilliantly manned/womanned. Still tight glute, need to get Sciatic sorted.
Great race after being in doubt about running it even this morning. Hip was ok. Muscles around it were tight. PB by 25 secs!!
Great organisation, perfect weather, brilliant race - and a PB
