neiltaff A bracing headwind from about mile 16 made for some slow progress not helped by leg cramps from mile 18 to the finish .Times went out of the window for me,but if you look at most peoples finishing times conditions clearly affected the outcomes . taggy gee What an absoloute stinker... Totally lied to by the race organiser as he told us on the Saturday that the marathon was run for only 2 miles on the very windy and sand blasted promenade, when actually it was 19 miles. Also the water stations were spaced apart all over the place, we got a CUP of water at mile 3,6.5 and the next water station was at 13.5 mile point... Nobody was given a t-shirt and now they are having to send them to everybody... All in all this was a very poorly organised event which I will never consider doing again. YorkshireCraig This was both my first marathon attempt and the strongest wind I've ever tried running in. At about 7 miles (I think) it was a complete sandstorm and had to use buff-origami and hand to cover my face ...saw one guy running backwards, brilliant! When I got to the turn at Blackpool (16-17 miles) was on for a sub 4hrs, but then had to run into the wind pretty much all the way to the finish which ruined times but made for a good challenge! Pretty well organised overall and I liked the personalised shout-outs at the end! Can't argue with the other comments though, a few more water stations and a better route wouldn't go a miss next time.
