Silverstone 10k, I had vague notions of trying to set a new age category course record when I looked at the race details at the weekend, to do this I would need to finish in 43 minutes, yesterday we ran Weston 5 a bit faster than planned so I assumed that a fast run today would not be on the cards, the route is 2x 5k round the race track, I decided to just run how I felt, got going and thought maybe I would see if I could break my 5k PB, I did 5k in a little under 21 mins a PB by a minute, chances of completing in 43 mins was minimal but I decided to try to keep plugging away at approx 4+ mins per 1k, at 7k I had 14 mins to finish and knew I was on for a chance, finish time was 42.26 a 90 second PB and course PB by 41 seconds! I am delighted!
Best 10k time for 14 years
A fantastic race, I was really nervous beforehand but once underway I really enjoyed it. Knocked almost 4 minutes off my PB.
Training run to assess fitness for the Ironman UK 70.3 after my chest infection. (no trainning for 5 weeks)
This is qite a good flat pb course and is great apparently as long as it's not windy. Started off briskly, flagged a bit on the 'hill' after 3 miles, but kept it up for the second circuit. Could I have done it quicker? Don't think so on the day, with my weight being about half a stone too much. But a good race, best speed this year.
going for a pb.................................i hope???
Probably a personal worst but still better than I was expecting!

SILVERSTONE 10KMS RACE - 50.48 mins (stopwatch) / 51.05 mins (official) - Back at Christmas time, I never expected to run again. So, about a month ago, when my neck allowed me to use the treadmill properly, I was thrilled. Tonight was 'wonderland'. My first race since July 2009. Indeed, my first outdoor run since Jult 2009 lol. "Race orders" were to pace a friend from my gym to a 52.00 mins PB. However, she felt fine at half-way, so we kicked on in the second half. I expected to be absolutely shattered, both during and after the race. But both were fine. (1km – 5.06 / 2km – 4.49 / 3km – 5.21 / 4km – 4.50 / 5km – 5.47?? /
First half – 25.53 / 6km – 4.32?? / 7km – 5.12 / 8km – 5.03 / 9km – 4.56 / 10km – 5.12 / Second half – 24.55 / Overall – 50.48 mins)
PB First 10k Race
Found the terrain very hard, knees were knackered for 3 days - wear extra cushioning next time
