Great race. Loved it. Until my knee went ping 3/4 way round and I had to walk/jog the rest - gutted.
Have to say though, the support of the Dubliners was awesome, all round the course, and all round the bars later!
Second (and final) go at trying for a sub-4 after a bad run at Edinburgh last year.....looking forward to it, I love Dubbers!
Well, I really enjoyed that! Absolutely brillliant day. The Dubliners are fab. They loved my "I heart Dublin" running shirt. Weather perfect. Great organisation, marshals, support and atmosphere. Lost the 4:00 balloons at about 15 miles. Stitch at 23-26 miles made my breathing weird and slowed me down a lot. Too much water in the last few miles, I think. But felt so relaxed for the first 20 and an absolutely brilliant overall experience. It's how imagined my first mara to be but had to wait for my 2nd one for the experience. Restored my faith in marathon running. Had to avoid a tv opportunity at the finish line too, some men with a fluffy microphone thing tried to corner me but me being of the shy, retiring type, I wasn't having it at the time, but wish I had now!!
So lose this extra stone in weight that I've acquired, have a rest, and go for sub 4 in a couple of years!

i was running this marathon dressed as a leprechaun and i did have alot of fun going around the route..
and i am now in the guinness book of records as the fastest runner dressed as a leprechaun to every run a marathhon with my time of 3 hours 9 minutes and 7 seconds..
Hopefully Sub 4 just,
First ever marathon - so a guaranteed pb !Was on for a sub 4 but lost it betwwen 19 & 20 and again dropped the pace between 23 & 25. Enjoyed the race and cracking atmosphere - now just need to shave 4 minutes off my next marathon time!
New PB!!! YYYAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!
hopefully this year i should easily do this time as last year the night before i was up all night with flu. My best marathon time is 3.49 . Love Dublin its such a great course and atmosphere
Was trying to stay with the 4:30 pink balloons but after 19/20 they were gaining pace and I was losing it so had to let them go.........still a PB so pleased with that and really enjoyed the run - Dublin and its people were great!
I'm trying out a new unconventional marathon training and see how my time compares to last years by the book training (3:15:40)
It worked! And I have to say Dublin is not the slightest bit flat
Are Those My Feet?
First and last marathon
Can`t believe my third quarter was my fastest at 49:50 MINS . It`s great to finally get under 3:30 for once , thought I`d never do it.
not bad ,,was on track for sub 4 for bad period 15-18 miles put paid to that..but pretty pleased with big PB...crowds were great and weather was perfect...
