PB- chuffed to bits! Not sure negative references about the start, seemed ok to me. Just wish I was as good as Marigold!!!! Am I the only one who didnt feel the need to read the complete report?
Start could have been better organised, got over the start line 10m 40s after the start - was never going to win form there! (joke) Apart from the start the marshalling, organisation and drink stops were very well organised and the crowds were excellent and on top of that I got a PB!
40.01 @ 10k - 65.29 @ 10miles - Sally caught me at 11.5 miles and passed me at 12.5 miles.
Missed one week training through bad quad (L) and one week through bad back (LS) in 3 weeks leading up to race - so not too bad
Took it fairly steadily. First ten miles were great and felt very comfortable, but tailed off a surprising amount over the last three and struggled.
Lucy ran a blinder. Lovely day for it and great fun.
First half marathon for 27 years, saw Andrew run it last year and I wanted some of the action.
Just as good as it looked last year but I think next week's 16 miler could prove tricky!
Much better than last year; 1:05 for 10k; ran out of energy after about 10miles and had to run/walk the rest. Under trained for long runs even though faster pace throughout. Shame about the wait between finishing and goody bags especially in the cold with no silver sheets to keep warm. Better organised at start than last year but bit of a fiasco at the finish. Not sure whether to do it next year.
Tremendous race, great organisation, hugely supportive crowd, top marks all round. And a new PB to boot!
started toooo fast, then right foot got really painful on the arch of foot on left side, did stop to walk too many times.....but a PB
good race loads of people tho! and you got a nice goody bag!
This run will be with much less training than last year. I wont be able to manage the long runs due to the new family. But we'll see what I can do
I didn't train the two weeks prior to the event due to a heavy cold. I also sensed signs of a second cold on the morning of the run!!
Part of training programme for Paris. Humungous PB!!! Lovely race; organisation really smooth.
Bath Half Marathon.... Cold start but soon warmed up, left leg was feeling a bit sore but didnt cause any problems. Was hopeing for sub 1 hour 50min so pleased ish with the time...
Start was a joke again. Couldn't keep warm or stretch properly. Too cold, should've wore more on upper body. Blister on left foot after 9 miles. Cold wind everytime I went in the shade really effected ny legs. Both calves cramped up on13 miles, had to hop for a little bit. Just managed to beat Michael Jackson
Felt good. Strong at the end thanks to marathon training.
Well organized race! I don't think I've seen so many marshals and helpers and water stations for a 'half' before.Great support from the crowds, who braved the cold. My feet were frozen.Couldn't feel my toes for the first 4miles!!. COurse not as flat as expected, but the last mile wasn't as 'up' as I'd feared..Definitely one for diary for next year.
First time I have run this half. Really cold - it took 2½ miles into the race before I could feel my toes! I am so surprised by my time - considering my training was thinking it more likely to be 1.53 ish - am now annoyed I didnt push a bit harder and get a B (only 48 secs over!).
Felt better than I expected, didn't try too hard!
Using this race as pace setting for London. Will be taking it easy.
need to work harder
Great race. Felt good all the way round. Ideal conditions.
Chip time but gun 1:33:05 with a 10k split 42:18
Well I'm really chuffed that I managed to hit my VERY top end target of averaging 5:00m/m pace for my race today. Trouble is I foolishly ran 13.25 miles so ended up with 66:10 rather than 65:30
Joking aside, over the moon with the result
From the start I knew things were going to go quite well as my taper week (80 including todays miles) had made a real difference to the legs. Actually felt up for racing rather than the recent little picture races where not surprisingly my legs have felt dead before we started.
So headed off in the lead pack for a while and after realising I really shouldn't be running with 3 kenyans and Dan Robinson (amongst others), I stuck to my plan (ish) and settled into just under 5:00m/m pace. Feeling very comfortable and got into a nice stride running with Kairn Stone and confidence levels were high until we turned into the wind at 4 miles.
Started to feel quite hard to maintain 5m/m pace but was there or there abouts. 3 miles later and we were back with the wind again and feeling a little easier again. Basically ran the whole way with Mr Stone until mile 12 when my legs let me know the free ride was over and turned to lead!
Lost the 10 seconds that would have got me a 65:xx in mile 13 and watched my race partner grab a few meters to take 9th place to my 10th.
Very good days work and pleased my training so far has paid off, target 2:18 is still within my grasp!
Provisional race result at this stage.
Very good course. Weather was ideal. Enjoyed it very much. Good course. Good test. Very pleased with time.
Bath Half, cold clear day - very cold in shade. Ran fairly even pace though started to slow a little on second lower Brs rd stretch. Took no water at first station, sips at rest of stations. New pb by 3 minutes. Through 10k in 42.56. 6.45, 3 mile 20.26, 5 mile 34.19, 6 mile 41.39, 10 km 42.56, 8 mile 55.39, 9 mile 63.12, 10 mile 70.16, 11 mile 77.42.
Better organised than last year, well miffed in being in the Orange F start, freezing cold, ran a well even paced race, can go quicker, must lay off alcohol the night before races
Felt poorly and trainers were wrong.Sticking to my trusty asics next time!
PB- cold at start but good conditions. Aiming for a sub 1.20 which i thought was just out of my grasp and proved to be so.
My first half marathon and went really well ,bit chaotic at start though
Position 2749, 10K time 50.24
Day started very cold. Aching arches throughout. Almost gave up with pain at 9 miles. Real struggle to finish.
With a 40 second pee stop at the first set of portaloos (courtesy of over-estimating my pre-race hydration requirements!)
Dressed as spiderman
A hard event - not enough training before hand.
Damned fine start to the season!
Wasn't expecting that. All those winter 10 milers seem to have paid off
