This event is listed on these dates:
First run for a month with 2 bouts of tonsillitis and an injured achilles. The heel held up, but the fitness let me down - I had to WALK in 2 places, for a total of 10 minutes. Damn !!!
Went alot better than I thought and am more than happy with the PB!!
I have to do this, as a warm up for VLM. May even use it as a full test run of my VLM outfit?
To get close to 2hrs would be fantastic:-)
At least I am safe in this race from tossers cooling down along the race course while I'm still racing.
***UPDATE*** Garmin has me at 2:15:25 for 13.25 miles. Hoping Official time is close to my exisiting pb and I may have snuck a new one in there.
Last mile and a half finished me off with the wind and my cold finally taking its toll.
Good race though, fab weather( apart from the wind) and I couldn't have pushed any harder than I did
garmin says i ran 13.31 miles as i didnt cut corners to well.hard race ,windy and uphill in places very hard last mile and a half
felt ok till about mile 10 then knees were killing me slowed to about 10min miles
Tough windy day at Silverstone, where this supposedly flat course is fairly undulating! Warm in sunshine and cold in the wind! Last mile and a half uphill against the wind when your legs are "mashed" lovely!

Calf stain injury at 9 miles.
Windy. As. Hell. And the hills were not my friend. Didnt help that with the training for the marathon, I didnt get an easy week ahead of it including 19 miles the Sunday before.
Poor Planning, Poor Race Plan, Boring Race, and then when it all went wrong I just lost my will.
Racing Koughkandi dressed as jockeys (and we have horses!).
Could go anywhere between 1.14 & 1.17 depending on how legs recover from race last weekend. Will beat 1.27 pb thats for sure !
Good conditions except for the wind, which made it hard work on some exposed sections of the track. The last mile or so to the finish was particularly bad.
Looking for a PB on this if I can sort out my shin splints.
Awful...but can only get better!
My Garmin finished my 13.1 'workout' in 1:48, but there was an extra .3 of a mile still to go (I didn't deviate THAT much from the shortest route ...) anyway - am still chuffed since I ran a pb and took about 23 mins off last year's time. That training must be paying off!!
i'm pacing this race with runnersworld i'm doing 11 minute mile, so no pb for me! ;-(
Extremely delighted to have reached 13.1miles today at 2 09 54seconds!! but as i did 13.35 miles the official official was 2.12.19 - as i hoped to get in at around 2 10
this is only my 2nd half- my 1st was in nov 09- this time last year i hadnt even picked up my running shoes so i am pleased with progress- boy was i aware that i ran faster than 1st half marathon as at mile 10 i thought "oooooh dear" and around 11 miles the 10 min mile pacer went passed and my pace fell to about 10.30-11min mile - the last mile was a struggle in the wind- i think i may have been better sticking with the 10min mile pacer in start and increasing pace at final few but you live and learn- i was shattered at the end! by hubby and boys were very considerate coming to watch me being my youngests 2nd birthday and all!!
Generally pretty chuffed. However:
Went off too fast - until mile 12 each split is slower than the last
Need to work on my pre-race eating - pretty drastic cramps constantly from about mile 5
Ferocious headwind - not sure I'll run this race again.
Really well organised and a big help having mile markers and timers every mile.
Getting out of the car park was a nightmare it took an hour and a half to get out and kind of put a bit of a downer on the event.
Wind killed me.
did it as part of 32 person caterpillar
4th lady in my age category!!!!!!!Amazing!!!!!!
Overtraining injury at the start line but felt ok for a while. Came and went a couple of times until Ouch! Pain at 11 miles. Limped the rest of the way
After this race I sat down to change my shoes and found that i couldnt get up. Result: crushed disc injury. 6 months before i was running properly again...and i had gained a stone in weight. Curses!!
