Bad day at the office, legs hurting from 9 miles and then just a battle of wills to keep going. Terrific marshalls and lovely course.
I really really want to get near 4.30 this time.
I ran this in 2009 as my first marathon, found it tough and am now back again to hopefully raise the game. I would like to beat my pb and will improve on my last years time and will slay the demons at 23 miles
The dream.........sub 4 hours. 4h 20 last year & 4h 06 at Nottingham.........bring it on !
Injured with ITBS, still running but having had to stop training for a month before this will be sloooooowwwww....
race number 3201
Chip Time 4:28:49
Gun time 4:30:08
24 miles 2:57 - bang on pace then hit the wall and collapsed and had cramps for while before getting going quite a bit later.
day 2 of double, Pacing PaulMc to a sub 4.20
Didn't manage the 4.20 but did her a 4.48 pb
1st lap fine but very hot after 6 miles. Took it's toll by 17 and had a LOT of walking to do.
Apologies to whoever bet on me!
First ever marathon, will be hoping for nearer 4 hours, but better to be safe on predicting my time than sorry! Training has started in earnest already - fingers crossed for no injuries...
This is a practice run for Sydney later in the year. It will also give me an idea of whether or not my body will let me do the training as I've had recurring injuries.
Gotta be happy with that in the heat
disater legs just went found it so hot
Got to 18 Miles and shit out. God damn knees. I'll have to train more and MTFU next time.
This will be my first Marathon, hopefully trying for around 4hr 30 mins..Looking forward to the training and a great target for the new year...
Think I had forgotten how hard the last 8 miles would be! Fine up until 17 miles then started to suffer. Walked at a few water stations which seemed to help. Pleased with my time as I knocked a few minutes off last year but still a bit away from sub 3.30. On way home said I wouldn't do another one but maybe I will have to, to acheive my goal! Enjoyed the course, well organised for a smaller race.
I've been following the RW Ultimate Sub 3:45 schedule, but I'd be delighted with anything under 4 hours for my first marathon!
Too hot on the day! Kept on target to about half way but then had to slow down a lot. Still a great day though!
The hardest marathon I have run to date!! The sun got to me and I really had to push myself from 22 Miles, I almost collapsed at the finish I was so exhausted.
not what i wanted but on a tough hot course i'm pleased.
First ever marathon and it blooming hurt
bad water stations 1.30 first half warm and hills killed me
A nice run but very hot. I was on target until half way and then I steadily lost the speed.
trying to beat 4 hrs, but after last years injury maybe not....
Well, that went well - but the course was tougher than I thought - no pushover!
Bugger! Harsh work, enjoyed it though
all time pb is 4:20 in the 1980s , but in 2007 i managed 4:24, this is really a training run for Berlin 2010>>>> training run my AR$$$ - this was tough but an alltime pb for me, and it all seemed to go well, my average pace was 3sec/mile slower than target - so instead of 4:18 i got 4:19:20 that'll do
Broke 5 hours at last - and big PB! Really chuffed
Chip Time 3:00:11
Good half marathon, dreadful second half, not certain why?
shame about the sore knee - lovely race!
One week after Paris Marathon, shocker.
