Another smiley attempt at my favourite marathon
I have plans for this, dependant on some other results going my way:)
As per plan. Run til I couldn't any more then walk :o)
My 15th lap of this course, my slowest so far, and enjoyed every minute of it :o)
An 11 minute pb from the very same race last year - Get in!!
where the f*ck did that come from?!
I suppose not doing a 10 mile fell race the day before helps. I wonder what happens with proper speedwork and a taper?!
I seriously cannot wait until next year ... what a race ... what a high .... and as for seeing the TiT's well inspirational is the least I can say.
Just found out the time I put as my finishing time was the gun time not the net time so it would seem I was nearly a minute and a half faster than I thought.
My local race, 1st time for me and my 2nd ever marathon.
Update. Finished in 12th place which was nice but missed my 3hr target by 4 mins. Was on course up til 16 miles but instead of uping the pace I was slowing. Found it a lonely run as from mile 11 I was on my own til the finish, so nobody to push me on to a quicker time. Hills weren't to bad but obviously took their toll.
with calf problems in second half meaning I couldn't run teh ups only the downs I am really quite chuffed with this
DNS. See blog
Really disappointed. Legs were fine but no energy or heart after half way.
what a lovely race!
Simply awesome! Felt strong and in control all the way through. 59th overall, 4th lady, 1st FS
Didn't run - again. Ankle injured on15 th April
Confirmed chip time - great race, the plan came together! Went for the sub-4 this time, no cramps for me this year either. All you punters can now go collect - thanks for the extra incentive!
That is tough!
Confirmed chip time, ooh it hurt and don't quite know how given pain of last few miles but I did it! Those who bet on me for sub-4.30, go collect!
Fantastic scenery (in the first half at least). Well organised. Hard on the feet. First time in 12years I've had a blister. Road surface is very unforgiving. I wouldn't let that put anyone off though.
Hills Hills Hills Hills Hills and Hills
What a close call - chip time - realised after the speedbump at 22 I wasn't going to make a sub-4 so just had to HTFU and dig deep.
The first half is the most marvellous race - the third quarter is unpleasant sharing the road with the traffic, and the last quarter is hard hard hard. Views are good though...
26.33 @ 9:07. Grr 6 chuffing seconds
we had a blast!
I was aming for a nice steady pace which would be comfortable and would not have me aching the next day. I didn't taper for the race and was able to run the next day so I was very happy with my performance, recovery and time.
Windermere - cramp in the last few miles entering Ambleside, spoiled the run.
