Why do they keep changing the bloody route at the finish ! !
Really bloody annoying - at least update the map you put in the programme
great conditions and achieved pb
34/29,000 Poor run today aiming for 36.30. Although I did measure the course as quite long and had had a total of 2 hours sleep. Lost all my form over the last 3km after a good start. Very nice course but organisation poor, would not run this again even with work paying!
Despite the wait to get over the start line, I had a really enjoyable day. The people walking it didn't bother me, expected at a race like this- it was the bloody people crossing the road that got on my nerves, kept putting me off my (very slow) stride...
Garmin measured the course as significantly longer than 10km, so should be pleased with a time within a few seconds of my pb. Encountered fewer traffic problems than in previous years, although quite a few coming back at me in the last km made that a bit hairy. If you shelled out for a chip, the results are available on chiptiming.co.uk.
Really good course, great support etc...the only blemish was the start line debacle which everyone who has ever done this race has complained about!! i was lucky enough to be near the front of the pack - it took me just a minute to cross the start line, but even there i had to wheel around loads of people who were walking from the start/going v slow - would have been so much better for all concerned to have starting pens or at the very least some kind of informal honour system of predicted start times?! was great fun despire that though!
Chip timing this time, but still a shambolic start and the course littered with charity walkers, some 4 abreast. Virtually impossible to get a PB.
First race! Don't want to be overly ambitious, so am aiming for an hour and ten - but hopefully an hour will be achievable.
My first race. I enjoyed it, would have liked it to be a bit cooler.
Far too hot! Looked like rain and then the sun came out just as I went over the start line!
Running with Dad. We had a fab time. We love this race, and will be going again next year, according to Dad! Rather warm, but loved it. Some very uneven splits, but average pace was what we wanted. It was treated as a run at half mara pace. We had great fun.
Dire organisation. An hour to cross the starting line, massive queues for the loo, water stations ran out, no one to take chips off at the end, ran out of goody bags at the end, course length 400m too long. Not much left to go wrong, really
My garmin made this 6.43 miles....perhaps because I was weaving in and out of people so much?
Great Day, for an old bird with M.E. I was pretty pleased to get round and survive!
Very pleased with my time considering it took me nearly 40 mins to cross the start! Sorry to everyone who bet on me, I'll break the hour mark soon ;-D
bad start, not graded according to expected finish time so loads of people who run 100 yds then walk!! Not as good as the BUPA 10k. probably won't enter next year.
Took 1r 10 mins to cross the start line! Mass, combined ability start.
Nice route but totally crap organisation. Approx 40 toilets for 28,000 people. Hardly a steward to be seen. It was no fun running 10k in desperate need of the loo. Waited an hour at the start to begin running - nearly went home without bothering. Then spent 10k dodging round walkers. Not impressed and definitely NEVER AGAIN. Compared to the BUPA 10k this event is rubbish.
It took 1hr 3 mins to reach the start line. That's just rubbish. If I hadn't been running for a charity in memory of my dad I wouldn't have done it.
Organisation not nearly good enough . Had completely lost the urge after queing for over an hour . Still have my timing chip on - never found out where the highly qualified techniciams were to remove it . Stunning run though , on a beautiful day
elf timed as I didn't know about chips then, first race in years.
Stitch at around 9km made it very difficult to finish (too much water), a fast and flat race though.
This was my first running event and my goal was just to keep running and compleate it without walking, so I didn't actually take my time to the minute, I just know that it was just over an hour so my compleation time is a best guess I'm afraid.
getting better - 4mins faster than last time!
Recovering from appendicitis, exact time unknown.
