Helensburgh Half-Marathon

-caz- Testing the water with my legs so not hoping for a gr8 time, just looking to get the miles under my belt

***UPDATE*** So annoyed with KM's 18&19 as I took a run/walk as because of this I was only just over my predicted time. Hey never mind, another 21km on the legs :) Unaffiliated 1:46:33 2:00:42 2:15:00 2:15:45 42.94

clairevmc Delighted with an unexpected PB and prize for 2nd. Ran a comfortable, steady pace. 6.09 for 1st mile then settled into exactly 6.30s (goal pace) - moved into 2nd place at mile 10 with a 6.20 mile then felt I slowed but missed mile 11 marker and was still on 6.30s by mile 13 with a sprint to end to ensure I came in 1.24. Dvorak Oops. Some lessons on preparation and organisation thet hopefully I may still recall come Glasgow. Chiefly, turn up for the start and don't eat pakora the night before. There are others as well. First two miles in 16:50 and hard going from around 5 as a consequence. And never had intestinal issues like that in a race before. Still, take out the 'technical' and it was about the number I first thought of. Watch time, obviously. Unaffiliated 1:53:58 1:53:58 2:04:00 2:08:05 48.21
edso90 Garmin time.A PB! This was really a training run for Moray marathon in 5 weeks. Happy with how it felt. Sunny day, bit warm, but nice course and well organised. Wee bit disappointed not to dip under the 1.40 but heh ho. Edinburgh Athletic Club 1:33:00 1:40:47 1:40:47 61.27

grammcen Had to stop at 7 miles as I thought my hamstring had went, managed to soilder on and still get a very tough 1.33.09.
Did not think I could get under 1.35 this year but now done it twice.

Hope the injury I picked up is not to bad. Motherwell AC, Royal Mail Run GMC 1:29:46 1:31:22 1:40:00 1:33:09 62.58
HappyTimes First ever half marathon, planned to take it fairly easy with running buddy and just see how the distance felt. Looked to duck under the 2 hour mark, but after first 3 - 4 miles felt good (not taking into account the bleeding toe) and decided to keep slightly faster than planned pace of c. 8 minute miles. As race progressed then decided to go for 1 hour 45 minute if possible. Felt strong throught race and managed to progressivle increase the speed with enough in tank for sprint finish to enable to comfortably go under the new target of 1hour 45.
Nice course, fairly flat with few hills although was probably on the hot side for first half marathon. Hardly slept the night before which didnt seem to effect things. Unaffiliated 1:20:06 1:31:35 1:59:00 1:43:50 56.34

ian9657 Used this as part of my long slow run and pacing Roslyn in her first ever half marathon. Aimed at 9 min/mile pace and worked our way up the field. Good session and a great race by her in her 1st HM. Well done Claire with her shiny new PB. Sunny but loads of water and fuel stops, good well marshalled race and after I'd done my extra miles a swim in the pool was an added bonus. Unaffiliated 1:36:08 1:41:06 1:55:23 57.31

RunDMc Aaargh. I've done nowt all summer and this one has crept up on me. Nurse, quick, the screens. UPDATE. Hmmm, perhaps that seven mile panic run late last night wasn't such a very good idea after all; but it's been good to get on the roads again over the w/e after a month out, and no harm done. Tick Tock Tim Garmin time. seemed bloody hot. set off fast and to be honest was blowing out my backside after 5 miles. struggled from there on in, especially from 8 miles mark. I would do better to check profile of run before I start next time!
glad I finished in not a bad time though, with more training I can get closed to 1 45 at Great scottish run in 4 weeks time.
well organised, I chose to park in city centre 2 blocks from peir car park ( opposite CoOp) where there was free on street parking until 1pm. Unaffiliated 1:42:20 1:46:50 1:50:00 1:50:32 52.92
Ticketyboo Woohoo PB!!! No wind, heatwave or torrential rain (had to pinch myself to make sure I was actually in Helensburgh). Started steady over the first mile and then slowly picked off the runners in front to move up the field and finish 8th overall.
