Fantastic new PB by 2.23.Negative spilt also with 35:33 & 34:09.Was in 28th place @ halfway & made up to 18th by the end so thtas very pleasing.
Weather suited me again today.Little drizzle to keep cool.Went out with a plan of 5.15 - 5.20 pace & kept that going.3rd Scot into the bargain so a nice wee cheque heading my way.
6th Scot in the GP so 15pts towards that so should keep me in 4th/5th place.Got a few good scalps today which was pleasing as I again pulled guys in towards the end of the race.WELL CHUFFED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A 1 second PB. Not great. Too slow a start, tripping over people on the Kingston bridge. Oh well, maybe next year.......
very hard day for me looking fwd to next few weeks after I've recovered from my blood donation!!
Tick Tock Tim
feeling fitter than last year.
post race notes. Did quite a close time to my estimated. Happy with time, some more improvement. Chaotic start, why were roads taped off at sides? people running 3 abreast and chatting, causes bottlenecks!
didnt manage to get to the pace i wanted until about 1.5 miles ( coming off Kingston Bridge) when it thinned out a bit. Heavy rain not too much of a problem. I found it hard going from 9-10 ish onwards. Goos support.
hoping to treat this as a training run for the monster next weekend
Watch (and chip) time. Chuffed to bits. Counting this as my new half PB as my alleged PB was at Aviemore Half in 06; I am convinced it was short-measured. I know that this one wasn't - fact Heavy rain first 3 - 4 miles then showers for the rest of the race. Full race report in blog (to follow).
Entered online looking forward and have a target time
A Londoner these days, but Glesga was home for many years.
Not looking forward to the weather !
I ran Superbly today and got a great New PB by 1 minute and 44 Seconds In 77.36.I finished In 57 position and like last year I really enjoyed this Race very much and although there was a little bit of rain, It was still pretty good racing conditons over this fast/flat Course which I just love running on.The crowds of support were amazing as always. I ran with Boab up to just before the 5 mile marker and thanks to the good man I was off to a flyer and was In a good position time wise with a fast PB nearing! I felt In control throughtout my performance and powerful into the final miles and when finishing. Congratulations to my M8 Kerry(SBA) for having an oustanding performance and taking 2nd Scot home. Well-Done. My highlight of the year and Im really Very Happy and I can't wait till the 'G.S.R' In 2010!!
Run went pretty well today - finished 67th. Pb by 1min and pleased to get under 1.19. Had a few ups and downs, working hard at some bits, cruising others but still felt strong come the finish so good overall. Had a good group to work with until 10m including a couple of the leading Scottish girls, split after that dropping some and a few pressed on and gained about 20secs, I was about middle of them I think.
First Half: Minimum target 2:20 (ie, get round in one piece), Happy with 2:14, Optimistic would be 2:08 UPDATE: Delighted with 2:11:37. Still feel there is lots of room for improvement, though. Great event, with excellent support in fairly miserable weather.

Really enjoyed this one. Have ran it most years since my first, the 87 marathon!! Slow start and strong last 5 miles to finish.
Really enjoyed today, I hadn't run antwhere near this distance for a month so took it nice and easy and still PB'd by 10 minutes
Best race of my life :-). Started almost at the back of the greens, very congested until over the bridge, first mile 10:10. Since I needed 8:45s for target... :-O. 3x 8:55s then somehow I was just flying, knocking out 8:15/8:20s. In the end, almost a minute ahead of target and a 2:34 PB. Had a dodgy section in mile 11 where I thought my left calf was going to go, but I thought "ach, not like I'm going to stop" and made it through. For around the same number of finishers, it did seem quite a lot busier than last year. Good to see some Fetchies in the pub afterwards, great performances Top 44% finish, highest ever, I think. Can barely move now, mind.
amazing day, great weather for me, and ran with the first and second scottish females until 12.5 miles. got pulled round in an amazing time for me. 6 mins off last pb, 10 mins off pb from last year.Overall 66th place. WOO HOO
STRUGGLED TO GET GOING AT START ..HAPPY WITH TIME WEATHER RUBBISH THOUGH
What a great race! Loved the atmosphere with the pipers every mile and the cheering. Even managed to high 5 some kids along the way!
Ran 6 mins faster than last half in May so really pleased ! Well done everyone!
Fifth time at this, the longest took me 2hrs 32 mins it was extremely hot, shortest time 2hrs 9mins 39secs
Marathon paced effort. NO BETS. Anyone want to tag along let me know .
UPDATE: Felt very good and strong. More effort in the last 5K, but very happy with results. Relaxed and controlled pace throughout, looking good for the marathon in 2 weeks time. Well done to the big man ,SBA, sub 70 is a superb result and taking a few scalps with that as well. ,
Wow!! Don't know where this came from. I haven't been training well, but today it just clicked. Cruised it for the first half, pushed on, negative split, 4 seconds outside my PB and loads left in the tank. Could have gone much faster if I'd known. Smiled from start to finish and properly enjoyed the whole run. Mile 10, that DJ played Insomnia and I was going mental, like being at a Rez again, lol. Milked it down the finish straight, airplane, shouting at the crowd, sprint finish picking off 3 guys in the last few hundred yards. LOVED IT! Would do it again tomorrow
Not expecting anything special in this one. Hope to enjoy the good atmosphere and the flat course.Over the moon with time. Thought my chances of sub 90 were gone forever but with the right training reckon i could do it next year. Perfect weather for run today , drizzle kept me cool and fresh all the way.UPDATE chip time 2 seconds quicker so im going with that !!
My first ever half, running for charity;
Pretty pleased with my run sb for me struggled a bit at the end .The start was a bit of a joke to many runners not really being honest with ther predictions i think took me about 14 mins to cover the first 2 miles
Dont think i could have ran that any better. Paced it just about to plan (though maybe first 10k was a little quick, it was faster than i had ran that distance until the summer there!). Enough left in the tank for a wee push in the finish straight but no more than that. Almost identical pace to my run in the 10k last year. Progress
I think i went off a bit fast - thrown by the lack of crowding on the bridge this year. Felt quite comfortable most of the way - not a pb but 5 mins faster than last year so delighted with that.
Delighted with another pb. Had an elite start so got away very well. First mile 6.05, second 6.10. Then evenly paced around 6.25s despite some of the mile markers being out by quite a bit. 9 miles in 57.58 then sped up. Roughly 6m/miling for miles 10 and 11. Finished 9th (I think) and 5th Scot.
had a slow start due to trying to get through the slower runners. when i got to 5 miles i knew i was on course to get my planned time. kept a steady pace n even had enough left for a sprint to the finish!
PeeeeeeeeeBeeeeeeeeeee - Everything went right today, cruise mode from 7 miles in Pollok Park, final 10k split quicker than last weeks Paisley 10k.
Happy with that: 7:23 ave. Now, to do that for 26.2 miles in 6 weeks! Good craic in pub after. Well done on some great performances. :-)G
I tried to run an even pace and managed it. I was aiming for sub 1:40 and tried to pace myself to 7:30 miles. The weather was good for me, not too warm and light rain to keep you cool. I was running with Thomas Niven and Peter Crombie and they set off a little quicker at the start. I caught them up just before entering Pollock Park, Thomas was suffering with his hamstring and he told Peter to join me. Another Killie Harrier (Richard Skillen I think) caught me just before the 11 mile mark and all of us ran together until 12 miles when Peter started to suffer a bit. Richard finished just after me and Peter finished in 1:38:03 which is impressive and even more so when you release that he has lost about 14 st in weight since the beginning of 2007!
Injury struck at 11miles. :o(
PB at 6 miles and 10 miles too. A lot of fun in the rain and felt very fresh at the end. Should have run harder. Hopefully looking at 1:45 for Aviemore.
Rained for most of the race but had a good run with Katia and kept a fairly good consistent pace.
happy with result (PB) although bit dissapointed not to break the 90 mins.had a little blip in the park and was fannying around a bit and also my bloody lace came out again..which knocked me of my stride and lost me a minute or so pushed to make it up on the last 4 miles but paid the price in the last mile when i wa a utterly banjoed. . not the most scenic of routes and not my favourate course but they do know know how too put on a race thats for sure. (Edinburgh M and HM take note) .Crowds were terrific again. great day out and glad I made the trip but must try harder at this distance
PB for me too - magic! Loved the race today, got loads of support wearing my Enya t-shirt, hopefully raised loads of money too. All in all a great day.
no garmin. just plodded round. splits where 10k 1.03.35 (too slow) 15k 1.35.36 (toilet stop). a bit crowded for me at the start and practically walking at one point in the first mile. enjoyed it. nice constant drizzle kept me cool.
Second time of doing this run, great course, organisation fantastic. Edinbugh could learn from this, well done the weej
Well, didn't push my PB, probably because I didn't really get much training done, but delighted I was as close as I was (just a minute slower), and felt as good as I did most of the way around. Going to look for a (quiet) HM somewhere in the next month or two to give it another go.
Well chuffed to run well under 2hrs and improve on many of my previous times. While not a PB for the half it is a PB for the Glasgow Half. Route was flatter than I remember and support from the crowds excellent, more so given the weather. Role on the Great North.
Pre race - Not a PB
post race - get in, new PB
Perfect weather. A PB for this distance
Entered at last minute and quite enjoyed race. Very hard to get a good time as it is so busy and my slowest mile was my first as you just could not get moving, second mile was not much better, definately a negative split on this course.
Pacing clubmates from 2.5 miles!
Took is easy for my first half - if I'd pushed harder from the start I'd have done sub 1:40.
Paced my partner round her first half.
ran this under duress. Didn't really like it and won't do it again
Treated this as a warm up for First Monster Duathlon the following week - cruised around at 7.45 pace with my buddy kyt.
