This event is listed on these dates:
Bit of suprise time - training run for / paired with Dublin - expected a comfy sub 4 at around 3:50 as was looking for 3:40 Dublin
Steady first 15 miles or so, but I found the headwind at the lake a bit tiring. The final few miles were hard work, but I managed to hold on for a GFA time.
Last 4 miles were incredibly tough, but got there in the end!
Nottingham marathon nice for teh first 20 miles then off round holme pierrepont the wind picked up and down to 9 min mile then I couldn't get back down to 8 min mile. Next Marathon more long runs
great event as usual!!! I will definitely be back again next year!!
Felt good for the first half - 5 min ahead of 3.30 pace. Blister started to hurt at 14. By 18 feeling very tired not helped when a tiger passed me.Got to the lake with a sub 3.30 still on then got hit by the harsh head wind. By the end of the lake I was hanging on to an outside hope of hitting my target. By 24 pace had slowed to 9 min + and hearing the end being so close but on the other side of the river with no bridge in sight got to me.
Gutted to have missed my target by 4 mins but at least it was a PB by 9 min.
Apart from the pain of the lake and a slightly over crowded feeling at a number of points during the first half it was all good.
Hopefully a sub 8 double with the 3 to go the day before. *Update* Loved this, was on a massive high all the way round, felt great and got my second sub 4 in as many days even without a garmin for the last half. One of my favourite races, and lovely to see so many Fetchies having a good day too.
Second time at this one. Great event and really enjoyed last year. hopefully sub 4 hour this time. didnt get under four hours due to a bit of a knee problem at 21 miles. Still pleased with time though with a new PB.
A great experience. Not an easy marathon as first half hilly but really enjoyed it. Second half had calf pains in left leg so had to stop and walk a couple of times which was disappointing but still got under 4.15 so quite happy.
This will be my second marathon, first being Stratford hope for a PB
This race is my 4th marathon, its on the day before my 40th so a sub 3:30 would be nice.JUST HAVE TO WAIT AN
D SEE :-)...
Had a god run up to 22miles then went a bit wrong. The head wind on the lake was not good for me,and got cramp at 25miles still got a pb so very happy over all :-).
another good day at the office i was hoping for sub 4 hours after my PB yesterday at the 3togo, but then as it was going well decided i wanted sub 3.56 to give me sub 7 hours 15 for the double but at 20 miles fancied i had a chance to break 3.41 & have my first ever sub 7 hour double (2 marathons in 25 mins longer than it took me to do 1 in june !!) A great medal again.
Training run not at race pace. Paced Tommo round for a PB. Despite the strong wind around Holme Pierrepont I still managed negative splits.
Position 76. 3rd Redhill and 1st Team
Splits: 6:59 7:10 7:09 7:02 6:59 7:39 7:00 7:31 7:40 7:02 7:18 7:17 7:15 7:14 7:13 7:08 7:17 7:07 7:18 7:05 7:25 7:14 7:10 7:07 7:07 7:10 2:09
Looking forward to a return to Nottingham for me berfday.
UPDATE. Well the Tigger costume was a hot and sweaty choice - pretty glad the weather wasn't as toasty as Saturday but I was still sweating my nuts off. Paced Dowse round to a second (big) HM PB in a week and then nicked round to do the second half in a slight negative.
Great run with some lovely people
This is going to be my 2009 PB race, best get training now
Well maybe not, missed 3 out of last 4 weeks of training with foot injury, get round now
Tough but really enjoyed it
Slow and Ultra Steady
Not done a marathon for 11 years have been planning to do this one and already training hard so fingers crossed all goes to plan...yes i have a plan lol
Going well 2:16 at 20 miles then the wheels came off
Felt good till 16 miles, running a good 2.55 pace, then my legs forgot the race plan! Too many race miles in my legs this time out.
Really didn't like the head wind on the 2nd half, didn't help my legs at all. The loop round the lake seemed to take forever!
Over all a very good event, see how it goes next year.
very happy to finally get my sub 4!!
Discipline - run each mile close to 9 minute miles until it all becomes serious. Best to nap for the first half, concentrate on relaxation. Dont worry
Went like a steam train until mile 18 (keeping pace between 7:30 - 7:50), but slowed down dramatically from that point on. Was down to 11 mins / mile at one point. Even had to walk for a while at mile 24 - sore stomach muscles and hams. But "sprinted" across the finish line.
Cracked at Holme Pierrepoint - damn it!
Hmmm the problem with this is definitely the rowing lake evilness...hmmmm
My first Marathon, very tired after run. Got leg cramps
