Barns Green Half Marathon

Sun November 1 2009 Listed by Extreme Plodder
30 Entrants Club PB SB Pred Time WAVA
AdrianR Slowest half marathon for a couple of years - mixture of (i) not enough training recently and (ii) lousy weather on the day. Torrential rain before and after the start, lots of standing water and muddy underfpoot on the off-road sections. Unaffiliated 1:43:50 1:43:50 2:02:43 52.18
B Running as part of a long run - aiming to run no faster than Marathon Pace **warmed up with 5 easy miles (soaked!) then managed 7.5 min mile pace mostly to 10 miles - faded a bit but managed a strong finish - weather poo! Heathfield RRC 1:29:28 1:30:29 1:40:00 68.39
becca7 Great course, nice course, undulating but not too tough. Long hill, though not especially steep, betwen miles 4 and 5 and another going up to mile 7. Waterlogged shoes and socks meant that I got a bit tired from 10 miles but pleased with the result in light of this. 100 Marathon Club, VEGAN RUNNERS UK, Wigston Phoenix, LDWA 1:38:37 1:57:52 2:00:16 55.19

Dowsey Heavy rainful could not dampen a good atmosphere. This was a very well organised race despite the conditions. Not a particularly good medal at the end of the race and the T shirt could have been a bit more creative. My time was OK considering I had a tight hamstring.
