This is more wishful thinking, than actual prediction:-)... I will be happyjust to get round
Thats it, aiming to beat last years time
Missed the start! must read the instructions next year!
What a wet, windy and miserable day. Didn't much enjoy the run, but had great company from Gymfreak. Greensands and Dublin marathons on Sunday and Monday to make it a triple. Help..
wet and windy, legs still tired from Abingdon.
that was a long walk
In a world thronged with Really Bad Ideas, this one is probably the worst.....
A wonderfully tough race. Special thanks to the cheery marshals and helpers at the checkpoints, and to those who guided us along the route in such ugly weather.
Terrible weather conditions, added to the fact that a certain some one got us there late, therefore missed the start by 5minutes.
no idea how this is going to go.
It was amazing, despite the low cloud and horizontal rain. The last downhill mile especially rocked!
Fantastic day, great marshalls & check point teams, to stand out in that weather with mighty smiles dishing out tea, water, buns, soup, sausage rolls, milky way & mars bars, bananas and all time time giving encouragement these people are what makes running such a pleasure and are a credit to Eastbourne. Many many thanks, one very tired but happy first time marathoner, I will be back next year.
Not expecting to be fast at all here...
EDIT And I wasn't Bloody loved it though
I have no idea what to expect here. This is new territory for me. Planning to run as evenly as the undulations permit. Perhaps 4:45?? RACE REPORT - It was wet and windy, which caused a wind chill factor, and coming back over the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head the mist had visibility down to 100m. They said it was a scenic marathon. LOL. Had a minor sense of humour failure when the hill at 10 miles turned out to go on grinding upwards for about 4 miles into the wind and driving drizzle, but after that I pulled myself together and got on with task task in hand. I ran all the way to 18 miles (except the start hill where I couldn't run all of it because of the crowds of walkers) where we met a second lone bagpiper. What is it about Sussex? Does it have a large Scottish population, or has someone just decided that every desolate windswept hillside needs someone squeezing awful noises out of a sheep's bladder? Very loudly. The hills were truly gruesome, as expected, only worse, and I loved every one. At around half way I naively flirted with the idea of going for sub 4 hours, but the bagpipe tune on the steps was a premonition of the athletic slow death march that was to follow. Having turned a corner psychologically and physically on the way up to Beachy Head, with the wind up my arse for a change sub 4.30 suddenly looked like a serious proposition. What a mad mad mad mad race. Loved it. Absolutely thrilled not only with the time, but also the way I didn't fall to bits in the last 8 miles.
Had a complete mare. Groin packed after 16M when in third place. Finished a desolate man.
taking it slowly, told race starts at mile 18.beatiful weather, slightly bumpy, back next year for a def sub4 new fave race loved it ,what a finish run in.
Woohoo! 2nd behind the serial winner! Inside my target in awful conditons, so well chuffed. May wait till after I've run up my next hill before I decide whether I'm coming back...
First marathon for me this one
Too Much Water
steady trot round
No PB. Do not bet on me. Taking this race really steady, probably as a group so helping peoples round. Plus it's hilly, or so I'm led to believe
Fantastic run really enjoyed it!
Simon Wrenn lies
Horrible weather so really really tough day out. Still wondering why I didn't stop at alfriston but the tea kind of picked me up!
Did this as a walker, and found it very tough.
God know how people run it.
Good fun though.
Great race although wet, windy and very misty of the day.
Wanted to get a time - ie sub 6 but my goodness, it was hard out there so can't complain about being a few mins out!
