_andy Now that's one hilly race. Fantastic race, lots of sunshine, but a couple of bits with serious headwinds, especially at the end. Oh, and a couple of hills too. The splits tell the story of that (first split is the initial 0.1 mile): 7.51 6.33 6.14 7.38 7.24 6.37 6.57 5.50 6.36 9.10 8.38 5.52 6.43 6.55. You can tell that two-mile long hill at mile eight was steep since it had a couple of switchbacks in it. Excellent feed afterwards, especially the malteser cake. Hamster1207 Cracking day out Gromit ! Sun was shining and the views from the top were fantastic. Enjoyed the first hill and passed a few including the lovely Sophster. 2nd hill was almost too much but chasing PentlandPounder got me up most of it. Only problem then was my legs were shot and he passed me again on the way back down. Quite pleased with 1:47 but proves I need to work on my downhill speed. Many thanks to all including Andy for the invite to his Fetchie Holiday in the hills. Yea - and great grub at the end ! Hyperboy THIS WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST HALF MARATHONS I HAVE EVER DONE.THE COURSE WAS NOT THAT BAD IT WAS THE TWO HILLS THAT WERE KILLER.HILL ONE AT ABOUT THE FOUR/FIVE MILE MARK CLIMBED TO ABOUT 400FT AND WAS SOME HILL.THE NEXT HILL AT THE EIGHT MILE MARKER WAS REALLY HARD.IT STARTED AT THE EIGHT MILE MARK WITH A LITTLE SIGN AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD PROCLAIMING WELCOME DEAR RUNNER ENJOY WITH A LITTLE DEVIL ON THE SIGN.THE HILL WENT ON FOR TWO MILES AND IT WAS AN ABSOLUTE KILLER OF A HILL PEAKING AT ABOUT 810FT.WHEN WE GOT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL THERE WAS ANOTHER SIGN SAYING HALLELUJAH WITH A LITTLE ANGEL ON IT AND I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO GLAD TO GET TO THE TOP OF A HILL IN ALL MY LIFE.IT WAS REALLY HARD BUT I WOULD RECOMEND IT IF YOU LIKE A CHALLENGE.I WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR TO TRY AND BEAT MY TIME Falkirk Victoria Harriers 1:30:18 1:35:24 1:45:00 1:41:00 57.57

PentlandPounder could have done without the wind for the last 5 miles - it was hellish enough, but a great route. Only got overtaken by one person on the really big hill, and it was fellow Fetchie Hamster1207. quite pleased with my time. Unaffiliated 1:42:35 1:42:35 1:46:14 58.61
