Another cracking race, went off at 6.30 pace and sustained it throughout- legs were going to jelly in last mile.
Hills of Death (HOD)
I've already done 1.15 at Great Bentley so I know what's the situation is. Coming off of nights so we'll see what state I'm in :). LOL 45 mins sleep sub 7 min 1st mile what a great day MUSTARD more to follow
Prof Disco Dean
Really pleased - New PB by 4mins 4 sec All down to steady running - Mile Splits 7:27, 7:32, 7:26, 7:46, 7:39, 7:27, 7:36, 7:39, 7:59, 7:08. 0.37 - Q. Is that a negative split or not??? (see blog) Pleasure to be on board that bus Gymfreak & Mrs BooBoo LaBoy. Great way to end off my first 50 mile week.
I Will be going Sub 1h 30m ~ I Will be going Sub 1h 30m ~ I Will be going Sub 1h 30m
Perfect condition, good run considering my Garmin gave up on me at the start. Not so easy to pace.
39:40 at half way
Shin, calf and knee not too bad. Kept a fairly steady pace and quite happy with today's effort.
A decent enough race, nice little sharpener and glad with my PB! Not the greatest course though and they need to improve the catering!
This is going to be a stroll in the park. I am intending to scrape a couple of seconds off my 10 mile PB time, which was set pacing someone else so it's not really my PB. LOL! This is an exercise in target practice. How accurately and evenly can I run 1:25?
AFTER: What a fun day, except for the rain. Was running with a few Fetchies up to mile 8 and then needed to step on the gas to get inside 1:25:00, but I overcooked it, and had to slow right down for the last mile so I didn't PB by too much. Problem is, I forgot that Mr Garmin was going to beep at 10 miles and I'd still have a hundred yards to go, so I had to leg it again in the last couple of hundred yards to get inside 1:25:00 and slightly overdid it again. Oh dear. That's a whole minute off my PB. That wasn't the plan.
Where I am now i should be able to beat last year's time. However life's not always quite like that. I've brought it down by a minute as i almost managed this during the Sussex Beacon half.
New PB!! Pleased to repay the 12 that had the faith to bet on me. Negative split too!
Pleased with that... seemed slightly more than 10 miles so even more pleased with that!
outside chance of a PB, OK I lied, MONSTER PB.... great race
10/04/09 - 10.00m - 1'24'56 **Personal Best**
A new PB at a new distance. This time an official race. Went over to Maidenhead today to have a go. My target was to be under 1'30. Boy did I beat that. I was over five minutes faster. Considering I slowed down to chat to the legends that are Mick n' Phil. The start was the worse bit, I started too far back and the first mile was extremely slow, I posted 8'05 but it should have been a little faster. Spookily the second mile was also 8'05, weird. Thre I slipped to 8'14. Four 8'49 and I was worried that I was losing it. with 5 at 8'48 I was now planning for later miles to be 9'30 and how it close it would be under 1'30. Needn't have worried as six was 8'27, nice. Seven 8'33 so my constant pace was pretty consistent. Now eight was back at 8'45 but I was now being talied by a lass who was using me as a good pacer. That was it, time to step up a gear 8'52 not much better but the final mile I really dug in and pushed fo home, 8'12. Magic stuff and to get a free Mars bar at the end, well, st7uff of dreams. A nice flat race pretty much in damp conditions. Nice to have the family at a couple of spots along the way to chher me on.
Great event, I must return. Sub 1'20 next year I hope.
bit of confusion over chip time at start so time might change but i actually did this in 1.06.47. Never mind, still a pb.
UPDATE.... time now changed.... 1.06.36 :o)
Didn't quite manage to get in under an hour. Really struggled between mile 8 and 9 and came close to giving up but got it back together for the last mile. Still happy with the time.
Duped in to it by a Hippo Should be looking to take 9 mins or so off my PB
About 3-1/2 minutes off my PB for ten miles so I'm quite pleased
Made up for missing the Reading half because of illness.
Nice course, not niggled by hip till afterwards, and a PB to boot - hoorah!
Mile marker splits: 6:25/6:23/6:18/6:38/6:25/6:08/6:21/6:21/6:36/6:09
sorry to those who bet on me.........got held up and tripped up between mile 7~8 .....thanks for that mr braveheart......please don't stand in the way when geeing your running buddie along!!!!
this will be a planned pace effort for an even to slight negative split MAYBE
Neg split 29.10 - 28.54
Was ok but a little disappointed by lack of speed
Good flat course over interesting surfaces. Highly recommended. Nice to see RachE racing and getting a PB.
I am so happy with this run. Felt strong throughout and even 5 mile splits. Sub-60 on the Garmin. Worked up through the ladies from 5th in first mile to 2nd. Mile splits: 5:54 6:01 5:54 6:04 6:00 5:50 5:59 6:02 6:18 5:56 0.23 (0.08 - 5:15m/m pace).
Good race didn't like 6.5 to 9 miles uneven ground.
So this is Fetch Everyone? Great to meet you all and the site looks great. Just 12 days after Reading too soon for me as I stiffened up towards the end. Gives me the incentive to beat 1h30 next year.
First time racing at distance
Position 129. Died on last 1 mile!
