This will be a competative run for me. I am taking this very serious as i am running to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
I set a target of one hour when i started training and then changed it to 48mins! This was a little unrealistic and feel that 55mins is my target for this one!
In such a bad state with depression - developed agrophobia and had to be pushed to the start. Can't remember much of the race, but amazed I came in under the hour. Well organised race though considering how huge it is!
Slowly But Shirley
Will be my first ever fancy dress run. I doubt that my costume will be all that aerodynamic so this will be purely a 'fun run' in the true sense! Look out for Snow White and the 9 Dwarves! I'm Dopey!!
Update: Loved it!! It was never going to be about the finish time for us (luckily!) but that gave us a chance to soak up the atmosphere (though also much of the rain!!). All 11 of us crossed the finish line together, which was a feat of co-ordination in itself! Also glad my ears stayed on the whole way!!
just hopin to dip under the hour !!!!! - didn't quite do this but great run - tho very tired at end!!
Caroline Baba Ball
Strong wind on way back.
A good race.
Please don't bet. I've just done FLM and am doing Embra in two weeks.
No plans for a PB, I'm running this one with an old school friend. I may even be persuaded to do it in fancy dress.
3km - 12:49; 5km 21:29; 7.5km 32:55; 10km 44:19
Wind on second half of race was bit tough
Pleased with PB - would have liked sub 40 though! Breezy today and very congested at the start so good performance overall
Last couple of km very windy so hopefully can do a bit better next time. My 1st 10km.
Not a good course for a PB dispite being flat, too many people and a strong wind
Hopefully a decent time, but with the congestion it may be hard to get a decent time.
lets hope the rain holds off i am really looking forward to this run
Fantastic race managed a new PB even with a strong head wind at 5km to 8km.
Didn't plan to PB but once the gun went, got carried away a bit and pushed outisde the comfort zone. Appreciated the changes to the course, allowed more space for overtaking/being overtook. Well organised, excellent crowd support (bigger than last year), lovely all-round atmosphere.
Really tried for PB today but excuses start with being too far back in the opening field. Meaning too many runners to negotiate while trying to keep heart rate and pace steady. wind between 5 and 8km really put paid to effort put in and though I finished quite strongly I felt exhausted from effort and gutted that its my slowest 10km time for a couple of years. Last km up hill didnt help and what's more my nike plus says I ran 6.46 miles!! Probably due to running on outside pavements to get past people. Overall good atmosphere, bad for pb chance!
This will be a struggle for me this year! Having done the last 3, with progressively better times, I have been injured all year(foot) and haven't trained at all! So I will be happy to get round in 50ish mins! **Update** Well considering I haven't done a bit of training 53mins is not really that bad I suppose!! This in fact is the first race I've done since last years GMR. I was on target for sub 50 at 5k but fell away in the second half! Got a couple of shouts from fellow Fetchies on the way round(much needed, thanks!whoever you were! Ugg?) and let on to Pato1967 before the start.
Loved it - but still finding it difficult to pace - will do better
The Mighty D
Running as part of business team challenge through work. 7 very competitive blokes trying to not look competitive. Who knows what will happen. Would like to maintain sub 50min marker for 10K race achieved at clumber last year. I-pod stated 46.30 but official chip time is 47.01. Not sure what happened there but still PB whichever way i look at it.
I politcally object to this event.
No plans to PB as its pre Eddy time for me...see how the day pans out should be great fun....Great Event but PACKED hard to get space and open up but really enjoyed the crowds...and 133 in my age group 45-50 and a brand new PB..bloody hell chuffed..
unmitigated disaster - apologies to anyone who bet on me
Having only done one run in the past four weeks this was a lesson in what happens when you haven't prepared. The main reason I had done no training was a worry about my knees but they gave me no problems
need to up the training a little to be confident enough of completing within 80 minutes. I know that I will finish, I just want to do it within 80 minutes!
Been putting in the training, just depends on weather I can pull it off on race day... (and how many people stop in front of me lol)
I am running as a Powerade Pacer !
Very crowded at the start and did not get a clear run until after 4km by which time I knew target was out the window so relaxed a bit. Should have kept a better watch on the pace as I could have still PB'ed with a bit more effort in the second half. Sorry for the lost bets.
Overall Position: 1005
Age Group Position: 114
Gender Position: 945
Age Group and Gender Position: 106
Should Av Run Quicker
Big thanks for M62Steve for this.
Not sure on time as I haven't run a 10k in over 12 months, hope to get under 37mins but just don;t know due to no speed training at all and the people you have to run around most of the way.
*** very windy and extremley hard work today***
hope to be there sunday for my seventh running of this race, all depends on the heel, calf, ankle etc ! no predictions- just fingers crossed.
7 mins faster than when I did it 6 years ago - yeehaa!!!
Weather good, stop of 12 secs for EB injury, great course and support
Disappointed with time, course crowded.
Ran with injury -Had torn calf muscle 10 days before.
Flat course, should be good for PB next time.
Charity event to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer.
Set off fast due to thousands of other runners. Started to struggle around 6-7k to maintain pace.
My first ever race!
First time! Cold and wet.
