Captain Slow Started at 8mm pace for the first half (despite the bottleneck). Flagged badly during the last couple miles. Running form terrible (slap slap). Seemed the back markers were overtaking me for fun. The 100yd finish to the line was a relief.

PB so I'm pleased. Targeted sub 1.50, perhaps 1.45-1.48. Better hit the hills! Unaffiliated 1:43:38 1:43:38 1:50:06 54.31

Debski My first half marathon. Better than I expected, apart from the first couple of miles which were slow and cramped. The second half was more enjoyable along the canal and the miles started to whizz by. You never know, perhaps I'll consider a full marathon some time! GrahH Another half... I must be mad. Better be cool! Yes.. great weather, well organised great race.
Time by my Garmin / official chip time. Thought it was 1:48 but pushed the stupid button twice and noticed it was still running whilst peeling the banana! Sorted it out on the PC.
Didn't that canal path drag on for a long time!! Harpenden Arrows 1:36:40 1:39:14 1:51:00 1:48:05 60.64
Hash Loved the second half along the canal, but really really hated the first couple of miles, it was so crowded it was really scary, and those paths were far too narrow to try to cram 2000 people down there. Did anyone else see that gorgeous big grey dog? I'm in love!!!! Unaffiliated 1:53:22 1:53:49 2:02:00 1:57:57 58.65

icemaiden Weather had something for everyone, sun, showers, and cloud. Forgot to stop my garmin, so time is an estimate. If the final time is gun to finish I'll still PB by a few seconds. Unaffiliated 2:02:55 2:11:03 2:15:00 2:15:12 50.30

Johnny Blaze My 2nd half of the year - hoping to get a pb - but we'll see. I'm told its flat so might have a chance!

UPDATE - missed a pb by 24 secs - grr. Walking at a water stop and an over measuring Garmin cost me. But sub 1:50 was irrelevant after mile 7 cos I really struggled. Still, not a bad time all in all. Unaffiliated 1:51:02 1:51:02 1:51:00 1:51:26 57.81

Lieutenant Lucerne Prediction was based on the possibility of warm weather, but on the day the conditions were okay. After the congestion of the early miles, the first half was fine (1/2 way in 44:45). The headwind and undulations made the 7th mile hard and the slopes up to the bridges on the canal stretch presented some challenges. Slowed a bit in the 11th mile, but then realised I might get under 90 mins, so I made a determined effort to pick up the pace. The 12th mile was my fastest and I then hung on for the final stretch and made it with 27s to spare. Unaffiliated 1:25:52 1:29:33 1:35:00 1:29:33 70.71

Scott S Garmin time. Bit congested for the first few miles what with those narrow cycle tracks that made overtaking near impossible - too many of those posts as well at every junction that required evasion. Once I got near the water, things seemed to really spread out and other than walking through 2 water stations, pace wasn't that bad although should have been better. Did like that little wooden bridge with the zig-zig decking through the forest area. Stranger rubber surface under the canal bridges.
Runners certainly are well catered for there!

Sezz Pants! Really disappointed as I thought I would PB on a flat course but today just wasn't the day. I had breathing difficulties and started dropping off the pace about mile 5. Sorry to all those who bet on me! Trent Park Running Club 2:05:04 2:05:04 1:59:05 2:08:40 51.47

Tim of Fife I had a pretty torrid time. My legs felt 'empty' after four miles, I felt light headed for sections of the race, and my vision was a little weird (especially if I moved my head to the side too quickly). Was very glad when it was all over.

There were only three good things about the experience. Firstly, meeting loads of great people. Secondly, standing at the Finish Line and watching the elation on the faces of some of the runners. Brilliant. Thirdly, the resident cat. He seemed to be totally unphased by 1000+ strangers invading his 'manner'. Just lay there on the grass and chilled. A sensible lad. That's what I should have done lol.
