Nick the Geek My first race since the 1997 Great North Run, having taken up running in August this year. Entered last minute just to see whether I enjoy events like this, and found out that I do! northernrunner 2nd time of doing this race and both times its been very windy, the only difference is the wind was blowing in the opposite direction to what it did last year. managed to knock 3 minutes off my time from last year and could possibly end up being a pb course if only you could get a wind free day. finished 16th Blackhill Bounders 34:22 35:25 37:30 36:33 72.47

Screeners really pleased with this considering I haven't done any 10k specific training and haven't actually ran a 10K race for 18 months or so. Only a minute off my PB for 10K and that was down to the very strong winds blowing us off our feet across the town moor. Really enjoyed it, went like the clappers for the first lap so I didn't get lapped by the leaders (nothing like a bit of motivation) but the wind slowed me down in the second half. Really enjoyed it, just happy I've done a race in a reasonable-ish time for me and felt good about doing it. Elswick Harriers 56:42 58:35 58:35 51.88
