beginner1 Very pleased with time as woefully underprepared. Max distance trained 9 miles and then only twice! Original 2 hour 'dead' prediction based assumprion that I had put in the miles. felt comfortable throughout race keeping steady pace. Eccleshall road hill no problem. or at any other time during race. Felt really gooof throughout, really. Can't wait to train now for Potters arf in 7 weeks. inted to aim for under 2 hours despite hilly and potentially hot;- We'll see. Unaffiliated 2:00:41 2:08:42 2:00:00 2:08:42 47.98

Cavey Only a couple of weeks after MdS so it may be a horribly painful, slow, slog. UPDATE: Decided to run in a Chicken suit. Had a laugh, but nearly melted as it was so hot. No idea of time, but it was just outside 2hrs. Was surprised how much harder it is to run in funny fur and a rubber mask than it is in technical materials! ;) Handsworth Roadhogs RC 1:37:46 1:41:05 1:39:59 2:07:55 45.32

Luig Relying on mile markers for pace was a poor idea. Didn't see any, guessed pace (very badly) blew up at what I thought was 8 miles (it was 11.5) stopped and chatted with spectators on the bridge, forced myself to jog it home after walking for a bit. Somewhat surprised to still get a p.b. A strange day for me, but a great race, well marshalled and very well supported. Managed to avoid the official car park too. MAD Superman Stomach pains on and off throughout the run ruined any chance of a PB (probably due to the prawn curry I had the night before!) Last 2m painful.
Course OK and weather sunny. Flat 1st 3m then undulating through the centre before climbing up to the turnaround point. A nice downhill section and fairly flat 2nd half including an interesting part through a multistory car park, before finishing in Don Valley Stadium.
Took an energy get at 9m for the first time and seemed to work well so will try that again.
Overall not to disappointed. Thought it'd be the legs that'd go after Paris but they were fine. Sub 85 next time......

Paul W Bowl of porridge at 7 a.m. Carbo gel 20 mins before start, at 4 miles and 8 miles. Water after each carbo gel. Took Lucozade Sport drink round with me. Came 1513/4591. According to Dave's tables needed to average 8.07 to beat my personal best of 1.46.15, because he had bet on me to beat it. The plan was to run at 8.15 pace to the turn and then come back at 8.00 pace. We got to turn at 8.14 as planned. Felt pretty good although started to tire in last 2 miles. But kept pushing it. Splits for last 4 miles were very good but average pace just wouldn't come down to 8.07 until very end. So when I got it down to 8.06 thought I had done it, but I came up short, then realised that Garmin was showing total distance as 13.26 - not 13.1, so bit disappointed at that. Not sure I could have done it any faster. That is just my level of fitness at the moment. It was quite warm as well - certainly not ideal conditions. We beat our selves up a bit over our training afterwards. I think we should have done a couple of 15 milers before the day. We trained to Vicki's programme and she is 30 mins slower than us. rf_fozzy NEW PB!!! Yay! Good run, but started to feel unwell at about 7miles thanks to the little bit of cold I've had over the past couple of days. Then really struggled from about 10.5miles through to end - stomach was not happy. Survived on Jelly Babies and some water from the last water station. It was a shame really, because I was on for a sub-90 time before I started to feel ill. But new PB, so mustn't grumble too much.
Updated finish time - Garmin has me at 1hr 32.41, but official time has me at 1hr 33.33, so gone with the latter. Not sure why the difference... Airienteers, North Leeds Fell Runners 1:24:50 1:31:47 1:30:00 1:33:33 61.97
