One of the best races ever - well-organised, friendly, chip-timed, an absolute bargain, and sponsored by Aldi so the goody-bag contains lots of proper food. <br>
I hoped for a "negative split", beating yesterday's 2:53:32 at Rhayader, with sub-2:50 my dream time. I left myself with a lot to do in the last few miles and ran my legs off!
DNF. Got to 10 miles in 70 mins and decided that was a good enough training run without the incentive of a marathon.
Entered early (Aug-2008) and got race number 2 Just a training run, with 1km @ 3:20 every 15min, and steady running the rest of the way. Finished within 2 seconds of target - nice! This is one of my favourite races all year - flawless organisation.
got race number 3 - if you enter online number is automatically allocated - printable form was not ready 02:43:31
Hmm, not sure how I got this PB, was tired to start, and it was undulating all the way round. Great race though - well organised and marshalled, good to see water in bottles and gels being handed out, great goody bag with loads of grub and the famous Aldi-branded hoody, and excellent atmosphere. It being lovely and sunny with the odd bit of cooling breeze helped of course!
Very pleased with that
Always a testing 20! wind picked up last few miles, Top event. Wish then had advised energy gels en route.
Really pleased, knocked 12 mins off last year, found the headwind hard work towards the end.
You lucky gamblers.
Good race for me sat steady at 8.30 mm, did not expect to better than 9mm, so Pb by 25 mins. Yippee
wild guess for time! Hard work but worth it
Will run SLOW to see if achilles copes. SURVIVED!! Brilliant event.
A. Tight Rt IT band at 17 mile. It all went pear shaped!
Hard work from about 5m, must of had an off day felt like I was counting every step to the finish!
it will be my first 20 miles race looking forward to it '.
CUT LEG ON BARBED WIRE AT 16 MILES
Five minutes slower than last year. But realistically I knew I wasn't back to last year's race fitness. On plus side - no discomfort from foot or calf. Overall satisfied, but may need to moderate expectations for London and Windermere.
Clock time - chip will be quicker. Ran with full 4 Inns fell kit in rucksack to get some miles/time in with it. Enjoyed it loads
Proviosal time, but a big pb. Good tough race, but felt OK up the hills, though the finish was tough!
Found it Blinking tough!
PB-tastic!!!!! By a fairly big 5min 7 secs
Not Greased Lightning (M.)
Not as fast as I hoped to be, but I enhoyed it anyway. First time I have actually managed to run 20 miles either in a race or training, So I have to be happy with that.
Tough Race, Legs were very sore afterwards. Blackpool marathon in 2 weeks, hopefully not as hard as that!!!!
Hello to the fetchies i have met at this race. ( Cant remember your names, sorry)
Marathon pace training run.
great race - wasn't sure how i'd cope doing 2 laps but got chatting to a few people on the first lap so wasn't paying attention to the scenery until the 2nd time round.
Late entry... not sure what's going to happen!
That's what happened
Very well organised event. Great prep for a marathon. Rural - but not closed - course through a number of villages on a two lap ten mile route with a couple of average climbs.
PB - tough at end of race getting up last mile!
