tramps Fantastic day, raised £5,000 for EACH (East Anglia's Children's Hospices).

The race was a personal running disaster (cramps, dehydration & missed PB). After the race, these seem embarassingly insignificant compared to the tragic fatalities.

lambkin My first ever race! Started off far too fast but at least it got me out of the crowds quickly! A wicked day out, promised myself I'd never make myself run again at about mile 9, then promised myself I'd run a marathon about 45 mins later. A very well organised event but could have done with some water during the first, hot few miles. Unaffiliated 1:37:18 1:46:17 1:46:17 60.66

Lisrun Very hot day. I probably started too quickly because I slowed down too much in the later stages. It was the fastest time I have done this event. Wonderful atmosphere. Goodies included tee shirt, medal, chocolate bar, energy bar, water, pasta, pasta sauce, sweeteners, muscle gel, pepperoni (!). Ran for Leukemia Research and died my hair yellow to match the tee shirt. Got my photo in Runners World ! Had a great start at the front, took about 15 seconds to get under the start line. Chip timing worked well. 100 Marathon Club, North East Marathon Club 1:42:36 1:48:04 1:50:41 60.83

Kind of enjoyed it in a twisted kind of way though...

Fat Man Runs I was hoping for two hours but so many factors made this impossible - the heat, trying to get round other runners and being held up twice to let ambulances go past.

It was astonishing how so many people were dropping like flies, one guy collapsed in front of me with 200 metres to go - the only surprise is that only four died.

I only hope those that did suffer are on the road to recovery soon.

The support was fantastic though and the feeling going over the Tyne bridge with the Red Arrows doing a fly past just made my day. Unaffiliated 1:48:32 2:06:31 2:06:31 45.83

Jaggy Disaster from start to finish - found it difficult to get going and missed any water before 4.5 miles. Really struggled in the masses. Then ended up helping the girl running in front when she collapsed - 2 others had jumped over her! Unaffiliated 1:42:13 2:20:15 1:45:00 2:20:15 42.96
Vickyy It was boiling hot and there weren't enough drinks stations - hillier than I remembered and really crowded. Had to stop to go the loo - lost time (stopped watch whilst queuing) so I was actually running for 2 hours 7 mins despite official time.

sanddancer Position 34167th. Chip timing so hopefully pretty accurate as compared with last year. If I'd realised I was so close to 3 hours I'd have maybe mustered a bit more to cross the line on the 'right' side of 3:00:00. Had difficulty with the heat. My pulse was racing away (170+) even by the time I got to the Tyne Bridge and I spent most of the rest of the race walking. The last three miles were hell! Never mind, that'll teach me to train!
